....see your pdoc one more time for the year? My pdoc wants me to. She says I'm high-risk and should come in one more time- was supposed to be on the 10th this month. I said no becauses it will cost me $300 as my insurance won't pay as I'm over the limit. I made an appointment for January 8th to see her and just figure I'll be okay until then. What do you think? I know I just got out of a crisis residential unit, but I do feel a lot better. Been out over a week now. I'm going to get myself into some activities- like choir and the gym- and just go day by day.

What do you think? Would you pay $300 just to probably hear that you're okay and come back next month? Ifeel a bit guilty but Christmas is coming up and I have three kids. I'm on foodstamps, by teh way, so that tells you we don't really have much money. We have to make Christmas special somehow. I think I ccan do this- get through the month. Thoughts?

All I can say is that I am in the same position, although my pdoc only charges $150.

I am simply going to call her receptionist and reschedule for sometime in January.

If there was an emergency, I would know it and call in immediately.

In my opinion, if you know you're doing well and you already have an idea of what your pdoc would say I wouldn't spend an extra $300 just to hear what you already know. But do what you feel is best for you.
If my pdoc had wanted to see me an extra time and would charge me extra for it, I'd only see them if I could benefit from seeing them, you know?

Moose, I am glad that you are feeling good in yourself and if you think that you can manage the Christmas then there really is no need to go to the Pdoc.If you had any med changes it would be done in the hospital? Christmas is a very expensive time of the year and of course you want to make it special for your chiildren. $300 is a lot of money to have especially this time of year. I personally would not if I felt I was doing fine. Luckily my insurance doesn't limit mental health visits, so my pdoc and T can see me as many times as they want. I'm sure if pdoc wanted to see me every week, insurance might get mad, but he normally does once every month or two depending on how I am doing and if we adjusted my meds or not.

$300 is a lot this time of year. If pdoc really feels you need to come in, the least s/he could do is work with you on payment.

My T works with me on a cheaper rate so I see her every week. I have unlimited visits also but if I were feeling good and needed the $ to use toward Christmas, I would do that. You can always call for an appt in December if you need help.

Ifilling and taking my own meds. Saw new pdoc. Didnt warm up to her very well.
