Has anyone taken the medication Geodon to treat schizophrenia. What was/is the experience like? What were/are the side effects like?

I took Geodon and my heart rate increased to 140 bpm and I had jerking movements. I had to be taken off the med.

i take it for schizoaffective and it's very effective. if you take too high a dosage you can get cystic acne and have serious sexual side effects. the only gripe i have about it after a year is that i've developed permanent tremors. i hear cogentin would stop the shaking, though, so hopefully my doc will put me on that soon before it gets worse. overall, though, i think it's an effective, good med.

I take Geodon for schizoaffective disorder. As with all medications side effects can vary with individuals. But for me, in the past I was on a high dose (max) and I experienced akathisia and would become lightheaded when standing up in the morning. Currently, I'm on a moderate dose and am experiencing some speech problems but thankfully no lightheadedness or akathesia. Also for me, Geodon has been weight neutral and my prolactin levels are good. Overall, aside from the side effects, I think it's a good med as it has truly managed my disorder.

80mg a day...and it's working wonderfully. I think it's much better than the haldol or seroquel as I am not dopey.

My son is 16 and he still is trying to find a medication that helps his symptoms but so far no luck. very stressing time. he has taken abilify, seroquel and now saphris. He has blurry vision but still has hallucinations all the time. he has been on 20mg for about a week, how long does he have to wait??
