Well, i finally broke down today. And i could actually get my thoughts together even when i was having a breakdown. Wow, thats a first! Anyways, I was explaining to my mom that i feel like I change all the time, i see it as different personality's in some way. I mean, my attitude is totally different; always drastically changing. It's like split personalitys. heh. I could be crying hysterically and then stop the next minute and act like everything is fine, and ill feel alright/fine too!! idk what the hell is the matter with me, but i have a gut feeling that its a physcotic disorder. I mean, they way i change is so quickilly and drastic that its amazing...peolple dont see me as the 'real' me. And lately when i talk to people, i sometimes dont make any sense....
Now---
I know your not doctors or T's but, i would like some opinions...thanks...

deb
PS---i have had delusions in the past and some hallucinations..could it be linked??

The only advice I can give is by seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist and taking a Comprehensive Psychological Evaluation so that you know what your problem is and how to fix it is your best bet. Like you said we aren't therapists. Having someone tell you what your problem is when they aren't trained could make you worse because we only know by what you write not by what a trained professional would hear and see and have the test results to help in diagnosing and so on. as to hallusinations and delusions. They are different things but a person can have them both. A delusion is a belief that is not true like believeing you're a king or psychic and so on where as hallucinations are hearing and seeing things that aren't there like suddenly seeing a spider on the wall and a few minutes later its gone. hearing a sound but nothing and no one is making it. a person can believe they are a king and also hear or see spiders that arent there. There are many disorders this could fall into bipolar, schito, borderline personality disorder, narcasistic and others. the only way to narrow it down is by seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist and taking an evaluation which include specific questions about the symptoms, (some that are common know and others that only the psych professional knows about).

People with DID and other "split personality" type disorders don't have delusions and hallucinations, and their mood swings are from being abused and a trigger associated with the abuse makes them "switch".

Certainly having a dissociative disorder can make you feel some of the ways you express... someone who didn't know they were DID could think things are hallucinations or delusions. when they are really feelings or thoughts of a part of themself..... but you are posting in the psychotic / schizophrenia forum.. so maybe you already have more detail than we do?

That you feel like you change quickly could be due to many things... but that you realize it is all happening is a good thing!

People who are dissociative don't always have that continuity of "knowing" ... they might have one part of them working on a task that they requires math.. which another part of them does.. and "switch" ... with no knowledge of the switch!

Searching for information is always good... but, as you cautioned, be careful which advice to lean on.. Opinions are good to get us thinking.. but not a good place to stop. Find a therapist you can confide in, and let us know what he/she says about your concerns. TC
