My step dad is home from the hospital. Things are going well. Went to see a dietitian today. Got to lose the weight that I put on since I started my medication. Which is a lot being that I was already overweight.

First she'd have to admit she has problems with memory and cognition!

one of my dogs is in the hospital, she is getting iv fluids for her kidneys (basically doggy dialysis) i am hopeful she will be ready to come home tomorrow. her values have come down a lot, which is excellent, and can be seen to be making her feel better. i miss her though.
I hope she comes home soon.

Glad your step dad is home.

You have my sympathy over the weight thing. That's one of my struggles too. It's rough.

Called the pdoc today to ask for cogentin as my antipsychotic side effects are now hindering my ability to eat. For a long time it's been affecting my speech but now it's interfering with eating. The nurse that called me back called it muscle rigidity and said she will relay the message to my pdoc but wanted me to set up an appt. anyway to see the pdoc next week. I'm starting to feel the need to dump my AP without my pdoc knowing like the last time but the last time I did that things over time just got really crazy and eventually I fessed up and needed to go back on.

My dog seems to be in pain. I'm worried about her. She grabbed and swallowed a baked chicken wing on Sunday. Last night she was acting so funny. She was walking with her back hunched up. And she'd yip in pain occasionally when she moved. Do you think there's a bone lodged in her gut somewhere?

She didn't eat her dinner, but she did have a piece of my son's pizza.

Anyway I'm worried. Thinking about staying home with her. I'm not sure I should take her to doggie day care in this condition.

Costello, perhaps you should take your dog to the vet and have an X-ray to rule out that the chicken wing isn't lodged somewhere. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, it's pretty clear she's not doing well. She won't even get off the bed. (Although she did look interested in the piece of beef jerky I was eating. )

I was going to go to work for half a day, but I knew I'd be so worried about her here alone that I'd be useless at work. Now that my son's working too, there'd be no one to keep an eye on her. So I called the vet, and I'm taking her in this morning.

I hope I can get her into the car. When a 130 pound dog decides she's not going to move, she generally wins that fight!

Everything looks good. Well, everything except the dog tried to bite the vet.

She doesn't have a temperature, and there's no blood in the stool. I dropped her off at doggie day care, and I'm hoping for the best.

Btw, she weighed 133 today! She's gained weight.

No, the vet and doggie day care are in two different cities. We've already driven a long way today.

She's a Great Dane. I have a few photos of her in my Bridey album.

Costello, forgive me if I don't get this right but is she a Harlequin? I know they are distinctly black and white but with her type of coat I just don't know.

She's a blue merle. It's not considered an acceptable coat by AKC standards. http://www.all-about-great-danes.com...eat-danes.html

She was about a year or two old when I got her from a city shelter. She'd been spayed already. I'm sure it's because of her coat. They didn't want her bred.

Stressed, stressed, stressed. The water company called today to say we used 5000 gallons of water over the last week. I don't understand. I just had it repaired!

How is that possible? I don't understand either. If you had work done by a reputable guy/company then his work should be guaranteed... unless you sprung a leak somewhere else?

Thanks, cyber.

The guy said he'd come look at it tomorrow. He thinks it's a second leak. He says the pipes they originally used were too flimsy for the job.

I think he is reputable. He was recommended by the water district. And my gut impression of him was positive. Not always reliable I know, but I had the feeling he was decent and competent.

I think I'll go drown my sorrows in chocolate.

Costello, I really do hope you get your water pipe fixed and that it doesn't cost you a second mortgage. Try not to eat too much chocolate.

The irony is that I paid off my first mortgage this week. (I already have a second.) So, I guess I know where all the freed up money will be going now.

Too late. I already ate a whole chocolate bar. And it wasn't even that good.

My son came home in a good mood and looking confident. So that's some consolation.

Having a quiet, pleasant day at home with my dog and my cat. The guy came out and looked at the water situation again. Says he'll give me a quote on replacing the line from the spigot to the house.

It's my son's tenth day at his job. The end of the week two. He's holding up pretty well. He's having a little anxiety that's coming out as worrying about really trivial things. Like this morning he was worried he hadn't rinsed the conditioner out of his hair well enough and people would smell it. And a couple of days ago he was worried because he'd brushed his teeth and shaved in the "wrong" order.

But he got the check for his first week today. And he seems to be learning all the things he needs to know and doing well on the tests.

Last night I was so stressed about the water situation, and he was so sweet and relaxed. It was nice to get that friendly, mellow energy from him.
