Hi, I have Schizoaffective disorder, and it has been very difficult. In my community, there are few people with this disorder. I volunteer for NAMI, the National Alliance on the Mentally Ill. I teach a class that helps give skills to people like me. I'm learning that there reallly are a lot of people like me out there. But we are all so afraid to be rejected. For someone to think we are freaks or stupid. People lose patience to easily. I can really relate to feeling different!! can you?

Hi,

It sounds like you are one terrific person! I don't have this disorder, although I have a host of others. I often feel so different than the "real" world of irl people out there.

Welcome to PC. I'm glad you found us.

Cheers!

January

I know exactly what you mean.

I don't fit in with either the schizohprenic or the bipolar communities or groups in my area. It's frustrating.

Hey
I just want to stop second feeling like I have done something wrong you know? People make you think you asked for your disorder. You begin to believe too. I really have a hard time sleeping, and eating. I used to be anorexic. Now I do o.k. but it's hard. All the voices get angry at me, make me feel so bad about myself, it is a real struggle. I think a lot of people can relate.

I can totally relate! I also have schizoaffective disorder, am from a very small town. Even the T I went to wanted me to explain about it, he didn't know hardly anything about it Schizoaffective disorder and me So, I don't think lay people around here do either?

I've explained as fully as I can to my husband...but I don't think he totally 'gets it'. Its not like the voices do what you want, like when you are talking to yourself in your head. You don't know what they will say, you can hold actual conversations--they are that real. Plus, I guess, never having had anything similar makes it harder to understand.
