I've been in a full blown psychosis before. Went to hospital slowly came out of it

I recently was in a mixed state. Always seem to struggle with some paranoia.

Now what is happening is if I take my afternoon dose of risperdal even a little late I get this feeling like I'm in a dream. Then like my mind is ready to break. It scares me. Anybody else have this?

Any advice/ideas would be appreciated.

i'm not really sure what's going on with you, but i have taken risperdal before. i think i was up to 6mg or so. i forget. i took mine at night before bed, but i experienced something similar to what you're saying. it was almost like i was dissociating after taking the drug. i was pretty out of it. difficult to focus, felt like i was floating and whatnot. it was strange to say the least. however, once i realized it wasn't working and that i was packing on weight, my doc switched me to abilify.

it's very likely the risperdal is making you feel like what you described. if it were me, i'd mention it to my doc and see what they say. they may switch you or lower the dose or something, especially if the symptoms bother you.

Yeah like I'm floating. Mine happens if I miss a dose its weird. I just realized when I eat is when it happens. This is weird. I don't eat until the late afternoon (bad habit). That's when I take the dose....

Dissociation has happened to me with and without meds, so I don't know what to say, except that I wouldn't consider it psychosis. It's not pleasant though, especially when you need to focus. I do suggest that you eat regularly as your blood sugar levels can be affected by the antipsychotic meds. Blood sugar levels can affect your feelings of floating and detachment and like you're in a daydream.

In your signature you mention you have PTSD. Dissociation is very common in people with PTSD.

I hope that is helpful.
Thanks for this!

i get dissociation very often.
after i tried p0t for first time when i was 15 -
- after the high went away i seemed like i had permanent dissociation.
because it never went away. it would get extremely worse with anxiety.
but i had anxiety before that and i never got dissociation.
actually theres time where it became so extreme id "black out" mentally
and i would do very serious things and not remember them.
like one time i walked out of my house at 2-3am and was walking through tall
corn fields for a few hours.
many times i remember driving somewhere and its like ill "wake up" and i will say
"idk how i just got here". and i really wouldnt. its like my last memory was in my home and then all of sudden it was like im transported to wherever i drove to.
lots of other stuff.

One thing I get sometimes, is I feel like I"m under water. My arms and legs feel really heavy and everything is kind of hazy like I"m looking through water. Sometimes I even see bubbles. Sometimes, when it's really bad, I can walk easier if I moved my arms like in a swimming motion. But, I try not to do that because... well, people will look at me like I"m nuts.

I don't take meds, so I don't know what to call it.

I get disossiation a lot, too. Just this weird out of body feeling. Or confusion like this deep, deep confusion. Feeling like I"m not really real. Or not really there. It's hard to explain.

I think you described it well. Dissociation that is. I didn't even know what it was called, lol.

I feel it alot. Then suddenly, I'm back. It's like... my soul and my body aren't fully connected or something. That's how it feels.

I get this too. My pdoc questioned whether I had psychosis or whether is was dissociation with 'alters' talking to me. It's exactly how dark heart explains it.
