its been a WEEK or so and the community mentalh health still hasnt called in my prescription for my xanax. i prob wont have it tomorrow either. so that means no meds for the weekend either. they are barely taking our calls. they just arent doing their job is what it is - the receptionists tell my dad to hold and he cant forever cause he has to go back to work. then they havent called back until a week later. they are just slacking at their job i think. i really do. the nurse hasnt even called us back.

The other thing that comes into play is mirroring---people will sort of smile or frown in their own face and that mirroring produces the same emotion in you so its a lot easier to be around people who have "happy' facial expressions.

The thing is it's not even universal---there are real cultural differences in the expressions people have so it really is just as arbitrary as wearing white socks...
i think i show inappropriate affect with my mouth/smile.

i smile at everything and my therapist even thinks im lying about stuff i say cuz i smile or giggle. i told her its cause of nerves and getting nervous/anxious. NOT cuz im lying about something or laughing at something.

Roll call os a group of friends who all have something in common. Particularly, schizophrenia and/ or psychosis. Some of us have loved ones that do. This is a great place to meet and make new friends who understand what you are going through and give some awesome support!

Is your neighbor nice? Maybe have coffee with them. Or how about cooking for when your dad gets home from work? Keeping yourself busy that way?

i get antsy at other peoples houses and dont want to bother them. they are in their late 50s - early 60s. but maybe i could have coffee with them.

You know, in my experience, people of that age welcome having someone younger to talk to. Try coffe with them and how about making them cookies or a cake? They may be lonely too.
They seem supportive...they at least went out of their way to tell you that you looked better (even if your not). That means they care about you. That seems to me like a nice couple living right next door.

There's just no way I can keep up with this thread anymore, so if I miss something addressed to me, I'm sorry. I'm not ignoring people. I probably just didn't see it.

Faerie: When I studied medicine I heard great things from the patients who used CPAP. The hardest bit is getting used to the mask and the pressure, but if you can you apparently feel so well rested each morning. I hope you can tolerate it. That's what I told my Dad because he has sleep apnea too and will be getting a machine for a 2 week trial next month. I really hope it helps him, because he cares for me and my Mum and my grandfather with dementia and my 2 youngest siblings, so he's really busy and needs to get a good night's sleep.

The woman who rang was the second OT who was in the room when I went before Christmas, but she never introduced herself. The other OT looks like she's going to be off sick for a while, so she's arranged to come to the house to finish the assessment on Tuesday at 12. My Dad has an appt at 11:30 though so I'm worried he won't be home in time.

Idk what to work on though. I suppose I need help with my anxiety because I'm so scared of living independently again and of failing Uni, but I need to get my MSc if I'm to have a career in psychology. And I was thinking I'd quite like to learn mindfulness, but I don't even know if OTs do that stuff or if that's T territory. Though the psychologist said he won't work with me unless I make progress with the OT...I don't really know what OTs do though in MH. Idk. I hope this woman is nicer than the other woman though...

I'm sure it will be fine though even if your dad isn't there---but it sounds like you have some goals which is great---go you

Here is something to think about and give an opinion on...

I have heard it said in quite a few medical professional circles that schizophrenia should not be classified as a mental illness but should be classified as a neurological disorder.
Any thoughts on this?

My feeling is.....if it is a controled substance amd you had a 30 day supply but took it more often than you were supposed to, then they couldnt refill it until the 30 days were up and that may be what happened this month.

Your headaches were due to withdrawl I think...

I am so glad they increased the dose for you!

no the nurse said call it in when its used up (because they told me to take more than prescribed). so i called and they took forever taking our calls in first. and then took forever getting back to us. the receptionists and nurse werent doing their job and were slacking a bit to get my refill into the pharmacy. this isnt about the pharmacy. its about the receptionists and nurse slacking at their jobs a bit to even take my calls and get my refill in.

i actually dont think my headaches were withdrawal. ive had a lot of stress going on. but idk. thats what i believe.
