I have not been doing good. I am so exhuasted and tired. My tooth is just one thing. The people are coming to clean the yard. We are getting a new fridge. My step-mom texts me I have to come get all my dad's stuff. I have to make an appointment to see the lawyer about the will. Work is so busy we're booked until the end of March and all the patients keep telling me off because everyone thinks they are the only patient in the world. The house is a total mess. I just feel like I'm the center of chaos and everyone is looking at me to fix it and make everything clean and pretty and work right and nice and functional and I'm just not able to do it. I am falling apart. My routine is like blown away in the wind and I can't do it.

It sounds like your dad died recently. Do the people at work know this?
Some employers will give time off or a reduced workload in situations like this and coworkers tend to be supportive when they know a peer has had a loss. All you can do is one thing at a time. Pick one thing for one day and another for the next. Most important, rest, and eat well (as well as you can with a tooth problem). Take care of yourself first, the other chores you have to contend with like getting your dad's possessions or dealing with service people coming to your home can wait. Reschedule if necessary. Hugs to you. ![]() |

Newtus: yes, I am a receptionist. I'm also like a telemarketer. The doctors expect me to repsonsible for calling the non-compliant people and getting them to schedule. I became a receptionist because I don't want to be a telemarketer... i swear I feel like the universe is laughing at me. Also I have phone phobia. So, I know receptionists talk on the phone, some on the phone is okay. But I hae to make like 100 calls a week, plus check people in/out, plus handle money (co-pays,) plus make all the folders/packets for classes, plus update the web site, plus take calls for people calling in their glucose readings for review, and then also any other projects that get thrown at me. I'm getting to the point that I'm an assistant who needs an assistant....
We have 3 educators and one is out on medical leave, one is a temp because someone quit last fall, and my boss (the third one,) is having a nervous breakdown from the stress. The doctors expect the educators to do all the stuff they dont' have time for. They are internal med and family practice doctors. So like starting people on insulin and adjusting it. Plus classes on diabetes, heart disease, and weight loss. Plus seeing people for things like Celiac and reactive hypoglycemia. There are 3 educators and 87 doctors who refer to them. March is our busisset time, so we're short staffed and busy and the patients get mad because the doctor says "go start insulin" and I say "Our next appointment is in April.... ![]() Yellowfrog: yeah, my dad passed away in October. ![]() ![]() I can't take more time off because I'm the only one who does my job. It took me 2 months to catch up from the week off I took when he died. Even takign one day off puts me a week behind these days. Willow: thank you. a lot of angry patients right now. ![]() I'm just so overwhelemd right now. ![]() ![]()
