When I saw the first déjà vu post I was going to say the same thing! I am in the field of neurophysiology, and you are exactly right. If the sensation of déjà vu or Jamais vu only last a few minutes, then it could be a temporal lobe simple partial seizure. Most people don't realize that epileptic seizures have a vast array of symptoms. But these 'sensory' symptoms like déjà vu are short (usually seconds to 2 min), so if the symptoms are sustained more that 5 min, it's probably not epilepsy. And keep in mind that it is possible to have several short episodes, where the patient is going in and out of déjà vu. That would be a cluster, and the cluster can last longer than 5 min. Hope this helps!
