Metformin helped me lose 20 of that 40 pounds. I want to lose more than the weight I've gain from the medication. I want to lose at least 100 pounds. I'm around 5'2'' - 5'3'' and being that much overweight is bad. I'm pre-diabetic and I have a fatty liver so for me it's more than just looks... it's for my health.

i had a good day. saw some friends. watched ridiculous dr phil episodes with my friend. tonight i read thru my old journal i kept and shared with T . it goes from december 2010 to aug 2012. i noticed a LOT of differences between me now and me then. they were good differences though. it helped to actually be able to see the progress ive made. sometimes its hard for me to feel it.

I was doing random reasearch on anxiety disorders and I found a GAD test so out of curiosity I took it. The results were odd, but when I took others i started to feel a tad bit concerned. I know it isn't a dx or anything but what it asked me about was stuff that I had going on my whole life and thought it was normal.. My friends always have said that I worry to much...

Yeah it feels like hypoglycemia to me---there is something different to it than hunger....

Yeah, when I was over at my dads house there was nothing there to eat because they were low on money. I ended up finding a chocolate bar in the freezer and started eating it. It helped a little bit with the shakes but it didn't stop until I ate a pound of strawberries and a little bit of funions I bought for myself when I told my dad I'd buy some of the food.

Yeah one time someone brought cupcakes into work but they had been there a few days and they were from scratch so they were totally stale already but I had no idea. So I'm eating one but I didn't want the girl to find half in the trash and be offended so I finished it but then for some reason I could not stop myself from taking a second even though I knew they were gross and stale. I've never experienced anything like it.

Wish I could help. The only way I know to lose weight is low carb, but I don't know if it would help with medication-induced weight gain. Maybe it would, since Erti says metformin helped her lose weight, and that's the kind of drug they give to people with metabolic syndrome like I have.

Ok I have a question (mostly for newtus or junk dna) how did you get those titles? I checked under the FAQ but they weren't there.. If they are custom how do you get custom titles (if they even exist)

I don't want to sound like a party pooper, but I hope it rains like Hades for the next week. I hate fireworks, and people are already firing them off - even though the county rules forbid them before July 1.

Didn't you put something on resistant starch on here once---I know a lot of the nutrition stuff is based on gut bacteria now---more fiber for them less easy to digest processed food so more veg etc but the different fibers and every sugar polymers are different for different food types. A lot of weight gain is attributed to microbial flora and I know than zyprexa has in rats been shown to shift the balance of gut bacteria to promote obesity. Oh that was the other thing I added in more yogurt and other fermented foods...

They're letting them off here too. Today is the first day I've heard them this year. Fireworks aren't legal here in Ohio. You have to get them in West Virginia and sign a sheet saying you're going to be letting them off in West Virginia or something.
Thanks for this!

Jeez! That one sounded like a bomb going off! It's almost 10 pm. I'm not sure where they are? The park? The park closes at 10 pm, and they aren't supposed to be lighting off fireworks today anyway.

Yes. I tried it too for about 10 days. It didn't do anything for me but mess with my BMs - which I wasn't having trouble with to begin with.

Not finding much about using low carb diets for AP-induced weight gain. Did a google search. I turned up a couple of people on forums saying it helped them.

Personally I don't think the whole diet and exercise thing works for people with metabolic issues. Since APs induces metabolic issues, it seems like using the diet that more helpful for the condition - low carb - would be the most sensible thing to try.

"It shall be unlawful to ignite, explode or use any fireworks in the unincorporated area of Douglas County, Kansas except from 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. on July 2nd, 3rd in any year and from 7:00 A.M. to 12:00 Midnight on July 4th in any year."

Just sayin'.

The studies on metformin say its actually about as effective as diet and exercise and a whole lot easier....so I would ask the pdoc or even a gp if they can get it for you---I know sunshine could not get it from her nursep though---this is an off label use so sometimes there are hurdles depending on the insurance etc. Still I would start with that and keep up the diet and exercise you have been doing...

Erti, you've made me laugh so hard I'm crying.

I know you're talking about letting off fireworks, but you responded to my post about how resistant starch effected my intestines. I'm picturing your neighbors letting off giant farts in their backyards.

This probably isn't one of my neighbors. It sounds like it's coming from across the lake. It could be some people who've come out here to set off fireworks. Or it could be someone who lives across the lake from me. There are a couple of houses over there.
