Yeah, they can be a bit like that for the first few weeks but it wares off... I barely notice I'm taking Citalopram anymore. That said, best to talk to a doctor or your p-doc about it... self-medicating might not be the wisest even if you've been on it before.

Definitely worth following up with though.

Thanks Loial! Before I read this I just took a Cymbalta a little while ago. Already feeling a bit speedy but I read a bunch of good reviews on drugs dot com and I really need the pain reducing help it gave me before. If I have less pain hopefully I'll get a lot more done, as I really need to now. But thank you much for the sound advice. If it keeps feeling wrong after the first 3 or 4 days I'll rethink trying it for now.

Newtus I really do feel like you just ignore me though when I think I'm being supportive. I'll post a reply to you and you don't acknowledge it. So I'm not sure you want anything from me specifically. Maybe from the others.

I don't think anyone means to ignore anyone else... we just get caught up in other posts or have things on our mind ourselves. We are all welcoming people here really...

Oh, sorry, I looked but didn't see you'd replied to that. It's just been several times but if it isn't intentional, which I didn't think it was, it's OK.

Im going to tell my psychiatrist about the concerta abuse. I'm in bad situation. I don't know how to tell them. The only reason I am is because staying awake and doing school work isn't an option. I'm ashamed

I think that a good idea... I tell my p-doc about ALL my drug use now... not that I'm using them anymore but it's best to be honest.

There's nothing to be ashamed of though, a lot of people turn to drugs when they have need or to help with problems, or whatever. There's a real stigma with drug use when really most drug users I met at Uni were just like everyone else.

well i wish i could get my T on here to talk to u about it! im not good with scientific talk either. my T explained it to me with pictures and graphs lol. basically foods with tyrosine in them turn into dopamine in ur brain and that can cause more psychosis. my goal is to lower the tyrosine i eat so i can hopefully eventually get off my shot. my T emailed me a bunch of science journals about it but it goes over my head. its an alternative approach to psychosis bc most ppl are like meds meds meds forever. try googling tyrosine and the blood brain barrier

this is one of the pictures we looked at

I actually skipped a dose last night so I could be productive today but I best not make a habit of that... will have to bring all this up with my p-doc & see what he says.

The ironic thing is Olanzapine which I was on years ago was sedating but it wore off during the morning, I don't think it's that. I'm guessing I just have low dopamine in one part of my brain but high in another causing the psychosis. I am wondering whether all meds would do the same or if them binding to different receptors would mean there would be another that wouldn't have this effect for me.
Here is my understanding---those with effects on histamine are going to be the most sedating----those are typically the ones that make you gain weight as well. So abilify doesn't really fall into the sedating/weight gain category----are you taking anything else maybe for the akathasia that could be sedating?

Other options would be latuda or geodon....

I have a question, so if schizophrenics have too much dopamine how can they have depression since depression is too little dopamine or is it from too little serotonin? Idk if that's a dumb question or not, but idk much about the neurotransmitters.

It's never too late to exercise more as long as you enjoy it. I hate cardio since it's beat so I just lift weights since that's rather easy. I only find cardio fun if I'm on a bike outdoors or if I'm trail running in the woods.
