No offense to anyone. I'm just frustrated with humanity and the secret NT social code.
I think it depends on the situation---I find you to be supportive but also informative-----slightly different qualities but no less special. You are definitely appreciated here...

Sorry you're feeling frustrated with humanity.....

so just got back from the support group.
nothing like NAMI.
i suppose cuz its smaller.
first of all the guy that interviewed me wasnt even there.

they asked me all these questions first. they asked everyone these questions like:
are you eating right?
exercising?
sleeping?
taking your meds?
etc.

i was completely honest. and because i was completely honest the leader gave me this long lecture about how they promote being healthy in the group. which i get. like ok.

most of the people seemed pretty interesting tho. one guy was working on a screenplay. and the leader was talking to this guy with schizoaffective disorder about how he was gonna be a group leader but he said he had a meltdown/episode. everyone was nice to me tho.

and then in middle the leader and that guy started talking about advocacy and how the county is expanding and how he met with the state rep of nami last week about expanding this county. so some of these people are like pretty smart but they dont even look like that at first.

and then at the end everyone stands up in a circle. im like wtf is going on?
and the leader looks at me and says "we pray at the end of our sessions".
i was "oh ok."

Thank you SometimesP. I just got back from out. I noticed that the autocorrect changed stupid to insipid. Mainly, I worry that some of the things I post could be construed as insensitive. Then you guys were talking about how outsiders sometimes diminish the reality that many folks live with and I just didn't want to be one of those persons. I would rather say nothing than hurt someone.

I'll keep posting, and hopefully not have to stick my foot in my mouth.

People will let you know if you're being insensitive, trust me....Frankly the very fact that you're worried about it suggests that you're not the type to have to worry anyway.

it was alright until that part. but since that part didnt seem like it was made into a big issue and they didnt talk about religion in any other part of the group. it didnt make a difference to me. they said the serenity prayer. i mean one guy was religious but he talked about faith based movies. so i dont think that counts. but im not big on the hugging thing or the holding hands while praying. like if we just bowed our heads in our seats like that wouldve been fine for me. but like standing in a circle holding hands and praying and then hugging afterward. not my thing.

im religious. and im religious in a lot of things i do but when i meet with other people that i dont know and do things in groups that involve religion i guess i prefer to do it where i expect it: like a church or a religious support group.

this wasnt particularly religious tho so... i mean they said the serenity prayer. which is everywhere.

but the holding hands and hugging. like i dont want the physical contact. if the praying was just bowing our heads together that would be fine.

i mean this is texas. one thing about texas and the south is that even in non-religious gatherings people still will pray together in some form or fashion. whether its at a sporting event - local or national. or at a meal. or an event. etc. not EVERYWHERE but a good amount of places they will.

Edit: sorry just seen your second post. Was it more of a spiritual thing than a religious thing? I still wouldn't be into that though, not everyone believes in a higher power and that could just put people off.

Thanks, Bean. I'm actually sitting here thinking about spending $200 to have her cremated. That's how special she was. I know $200 would buy quite a few more chickens, but none of them would be Production.

yea i think it was more of a spiritual thing. they just said they said the serenity prayer after every meeting.

but if i remember correctly i think they said the serenity prayer at NAMI meetings too. i dont quite remember because their meetings were more structured and had more rules. i dont remember all those rules. but the NAMI meeting i went to met in a church? so like idk?

but anyway
yea its an Ale. i guess a cider. apple cider ale.

I had my bird cremated, they have all sort of special urns or even necklaces where you can keep the ashes---It's kind of nice still having her around in a small way....

I don't like beer, I used to drink it as a teen but went off it. I'd only drink cider or spirits now. Have you ever tried Stella Artois Cidre? Not sure if you can get it over there but if you can, buy it... nicest alcoholic drink I've had.

I love vines, the compilations are brilliant, the thug life ones are my favourite!

my therapist is a fool tho.
she told me to goto this support group partially to make friends.
like really?
first of all just being on THIS support group took me about a year to make friends and i half way gave up and left this group twice for 6 months at a time. thats not the main reason why i left. but that was part of the reason. like people didnt talk to me much. and theres not many people here at this real life support group and only one is younger than me and she spoke today about how shed rather make friends with older people than her age.

this is bogus stuff my therapist is pawning me off on.
