The History of the Jack O'Lantern.
According to Irish folklore, a man called Stingy Jack was sentenced to roam the earth for eternity by the devil. A ghostly figure of the night, Jack walks with a burning coal inside of a carved out turnip to light his way. Irish folklore began to refer to this spooky figure as 'Jack of the Lantern' which then became 'Jack O’Lantern.'
We all know that Halloween started with the Irish pagan festival of Samhain or 'All Hallows Eve', which then became known as Halloween. This was a time of year when the veil between this world and the next was at its weakest and spirits roamed the world. This legend is why people in Ireland began to make their own versions of Jack’s lantern by carving grotesque faces into turnips, potatoes and beets, placing them by their homes to frighten away Stingy Jack and other wandering evil spirits and travelers.
Irish migrants in the 19th century brought this legend across the Atlantic where they discovered that Pumpkins were easier to carve than Turnips. So it’s to an Irish character called Stingy Jack that we owe the origins of the modern Jack O'Lanterns.

I think we should go back to the original turnips, much more damn freaky!

It's quiet here today for Halloween. Is anyone dressing up?

My bed sheets ripped in half cuz I was using knives to cut things on it.

Then I made a burka out of it and ran upstairs towards my mom and pulled them open and said allahu akbar..

That sounds fun. I miss the Halloweens of my youth when my friends would have parties and we'd give candy to trick or treating kids. It's like a totally different lifetime.

Halloween in Ireland were some of my best memories.

Did you ever dress up as a black bag with some facepaint on? That's all we ever dressed up as in Dublin. Never had any clue what we where haha! And the bonfires! Deadly times!

i dont really celebrate halloween but i like to dress up.

I've got a date tonight. I might be dressing my self up to be a one night stand!

I think I'll have to accept the fact that I can't live up to my high expectations. Not anymore. I'm not that type of person and never was.

I say I want to study to get away from society because I'm severely afraid of my future.

I guess I'll have to just drift idk

I wish I could stop Concerta. I'm going to try. Actually I can't. The difference is too noticeable. I'll ask my psychiatrist to stop prescribing maybe.

I study good at school because someone is basically paid to make sure that I show up and can get out of bed.

Maybe I'm stuck in this life and need real help to get out due to my lack of self discipline.

i cant help but take more ambien again. i look forward to it every night. this time im taking it early so i can goto bed early. i miss door.

I am getting ready to take my second prn klonopin. the neighborhood is starting to trick or treat and it makes me all topsy turvy with the noise and the banging on doors.

I have my porch light and family room light off, so it should be clear not to knock on my door. I hope no one does. I'm scared. I don't mean to be a party pooper but who knows who is walking around the neighborhood ready to hurt me, you know?
