Lately I have been wanting to treat my body better by not putting bad things in it. Honestly, I'm convinced my medicine is bad for my body. I should not be taking it. I think I can do without and I'm actually contemplating asking my doctor to wean me from my medicine. I stopped taking my sleep medicine (which is an as needed medicine) and have been using natural occurring melatonin and I have been sleeping like a champ. How can I go about not taking my medicine anymore. I'm afraid it is doing my body harm.

Talking to your Pdoc is the best way. They can taper your meds. Good luck

Some drugs are healthier than others. Maybe you can switch to a healthier one? Don't quit cold turkey, that can be unhealthy. Like valley said, talk to your pdoc. Glad melatonin works for you, was a disaster for me.

Definitely talk to Dr and maybe close family and friends who have known you on and off meds. I know sometimes our perceptions are skewed. Sometimes it seems reasonable for me to go off meds but I know that I can't. Time/history has proven for me that go off meds, symptoms return, I can't make appropriate decisions, and if not hospitalized and put back on meds, I end up risking the lives of myself and others. So no matter how much I think I could handle life or think things might be better without meds, past experiences say no no no. I'm not saying it is that way for everyone though.

Echoing what others have said talk to.your Dr before quitting cold turkey as withdrawal can and will occur and can be dangerous...
