bearguardian, you're the only person I know that does math for fun. I should do a thread to find out how many others there are out there...

I wonder if this would help me build my mathematical knowledge at a more rapid rate and help me with some of my cognative issues that sometimes hold me back from learning anything highly technical:
https://www.foc.us/foc-us-v2-stimulator I like math but I have to deal with reduced IQ and memory issues due to how overwhelmingly traumatic and extensive my childhood was. Despite having a well over 130 IQ at age 7-8, I lost much of that thanks to being forced into such extreme circumstances for extended periods of time where I was forced to focus on survival instead of growing when my brain was in it's most critical stages of development. I'm working on getting over that limitation so that I can enhance myself intellectually like I want so deeply. I want to purchase that device because I heard good things about tDCS helping people but also to use it in combination with a strict diet, supplements, and regular exercise with some possible meditation and yoga thrown in to the mix. I want to become a biohacker of sorts and force my body to submit to my brains desire to grow ![]() Perhaps when I become good at math and enhance my programming skills to advanced levels, I could be considered a true hacker and not just a script kiddie ![]() What do you guys think? |

Majority of people cant learn highly technical stuff without help of a teacher. But then again, what seemed impossible to me a few years back I managed to pull out. Actually it was almost 2 decades of effort to regain sanity and cognitive abilities.
Rather try to reorganize your mind by analyzing everything and meditating on everything. And instead of a device, rather find a teacher. If its expensive, limit the hours to things you need to learn. You dont seem to be lacking intelligence. And hacker and script kiddie are just labels. Find something you wish to become expert at and do everything you need to do. Is this an advice of sanity? I like to think I have regained sanity, but who knows really. ![]() |

I agree with bearguardian. Do it your way, but don't waste your money on that device. I was an electronics teacher. I can answer most of your questions, or help you find answers. What do you say, DarknessIsMyFriend?
Darkness is my friend, too. ![]()

Thanks.
I guess what hurts is the fact that I had so much potential as a child. I had an IQ that was well above average when I was 7-8. I could do math and reading at a middle school level when I was early elementary school aged and I built a computer at age 8. If I had an environment that was nurturing instead of a living hell, I could have easily gone to an elite university like Harvard or MIT or something. Instead of providing me with the safe environment that I needed to nurture myself intellectually, I was put through such an extreme amount of abuse and neglect from the time I was 9-10 onward that instead of learning new knowledge and growing intellectually, I was learning how to survive in extremely hostile households and against people who would hurt me physically and with being locked up against my will constantly over my mother who would lie about my problems to doctors to have me locked up in psyche wards and have pills shoved down my throat, which I am convinced also caused me brain damage but I won't get into that. So as an adult, I have a lot to recover from, not just emotionally, but intellectually as well. I would give anything to obtain what I lost. In fact, I want what I had back so bad that I would be one of these grinder dudes who put implants and devices in their heads and bodies in their basements just to enhance themselves. There is a such thing as people who do this; look up the grinder movement. I would gladly do something extreme like put a bunch of tech in my body that has the possibility of killing me just to enhance my IQ. I care more about my ideas and goals in life than I care about my own life. So yeah, I am still going to buy that device since I read actual scientific evidence of tDCS working on people with similar issues to me. I will also look into getting a tutor or mentor when I can afford one in addition to things like diet, exercise, and meditation to further enhance my mind as well as my health. One day, I will recover. It just sucks that I will likely be well into my 30s before I do, and by then, eyes will be on a new generation of children and not me anymore so what I accomplish might not have as much value to society because I'm no longer high school/college aged. |

I just removed my old laptop keyboard with a broken, yet somehow still functioning space bar, and replaced it with a new one. This right here is the test drive of how the new keyboard feels and works. It definitely feels different than the old keyboard. Especially the space bar. Wow. I am definitely not used to a space bar that springs back.
The process in replacing my laptop keyboard isn't too difficult. I've done it before. All you have to do is make sure the power is shut off, the cord is disconnected and the battery is removed so you don't get shocked. Then you flip it upside down and unscrew the tiny screw holding the back plate on, then remove a couple more screws holding the keyboard in place. The keyboard pops right out and you unplug it from the motherboard. Then follow the steps in reverse to put the new keyboard in place. A peace of cake, really. This just saved me a whole week of having to go to a repair store, paying for labor and whatnot, and waiting a week or so for them to get to it and do the installation, then me having to go back there to pick it up. My little home repair/installation only took me about 10 minutes. ![]() The real kicker though, is that I had bought the new keyboard months ago and just now got around to installing it. Procrastination much? ![]() EDIT: I also rolled back my OS from Windows 10 to Windows 8. My wifi just couldn't get stable on 10 and for the life of me, I couldn't find a fix that lasted longer than several hours. Makes playing online games super hard and annoying when the wifi goes out every 10 minutes it seems like. So, I rolled back to 8 so that the drivers for my wifi card could work more efficiently and I could play my games in peace. The process was long, boring, and had a lot of updates for Windows 8 involved (around 150 or so to be exact), but I'm here and the OS is working fine so far (knock on wood).

Thanks for keyboard tips. Never broken a key in my entire computing history but its good to know, you never know. The closest thing to an incident was when my vacuum cleaner got stuck to keys I was afraid it would just suck them up. I have no better method of keyboard cleaning then with vacuum cleaner.
I cant wait to test this on my virtual-box: Introducing Windows 10 S ? Streamlined for Security & Superior Performance Also I cannot imagine my digital world without linux anymore... |

I'm currently dual booting Windows 10 and Kubuntu on my laptop. Now I've built myself a Gaming / VM desktop, I'm planning on making Kubuntu my daily driver for my laptop.
Only problem is it refuses to update now I've not been on it in ages. I think I'll try a clean install and that should fix things. Unfortunately I have no USB to hand at the moment to do it, but it's on my to do list.

Just download Linux Ubununtu/Mint and put it on an USB and live boot... so easy to get into!
![]() The only thing I'd recommend doing is a hash check to make sure it's a bone fide version.

I don't trust a corporation to keep my device "secured" and I especially don't like being forced to use Microsoft Edge when my modified copy of Firefox is likely more secure. I use open source whenever possible and use my own tech knowledge and basic common sense and I've never been hacked on my Windows 10 PC and I've ran the same copy of Windows 10 pro on it since 3/24/2016. With that being said, I still use Linux for all matter of business that I don't specifically need a Windows PC for. My Windows PC gets mostly used for gaming or compiling due to how fast it is compared to the laptop. |

In what could be a sign of things to come, the social media giant took the decision to pull the plug after the system came up with its own language and started communicating using unintelligible sentences:

Still though, I have often fantasized about a super intelligent AI running all of the governments in the world of the future making the hard decisions based solely on infallible logic and reason over irrational emotions and not being prone to corruption, unlike human politicians that only care about power and control. |

I don't trust any human to wield power. All humans are prone to corruption. Knowledge and power are the two things that humans are the most prone to be corrupted by. Some might consider some of my opinions and beliefs extreme, but technology and science are the only things that I have any faith in. If it wasn't for the amazing potential that could be ushered by out innovative minds and the potential that science and technology has to greatly enhance both our quality of life and our natural lifespans, I would kill myself. I see no point in living if I will just die anyways. I literally have somewhat of a psuedo faith in technology to save me from my own problems and rescue me from how painful being a human is from me. My ultimate desire is to somehow merge with technology and hopefully give up my humanity in the process. I am prioritizing wealth generation and when I become a multimillionaire or billionaire one day, I plan on investing money into companies that want to advance technologies to make such a thing possible. I don't know how to explain my exact thoughts on this, but I don't want to ever stop existing, yet I don't want to be a human because I find being a human painful. Do I make sense? I hope I don't sound too crazy lol. |

No no, wise men and women are incorruptible. Maybe then make genetically engineered ones from historic samples of Socrates, Buddha, Einstein... pair them with AIs and you have combination of knowledge, computing, wisdom and emotion needed for managing the world...

A purely "human" one is corruptible just like the rest of us, all be it less prone. Regardless, you have some very interesting points. |

Basically you can run linux from a USB rather than installing it on your computer.
Here's a step by step guide for how to do it with one of the popular distros, Ubuntu. (distro = version of Linux) https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutoria...k-on-windows#0 If you decide you like it, you can then install it on your computer if you want from the USB!
