I'm seeing signs of spring starting to appear this week, which is great. There are a couple of crocuses budding already at my local park, and daffodil shoots poking through.

My parents also bought me some lovely Welsh daffodils for St Dwynwen's day (25th Jan - St Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of love and friendship - NOT the Welsh St Valentine(!!!), whatever google might say! lol Valentine's day is supposed to be about asking out your crush - "will you be my valentine?" - before it got corrupted by companies trying to make money, whereas Dwynwen is for ALL types of love, not just eros. Valentine is also the patron saint of bees, which is a random fact that amuses me. Anyway, mini history lesson over! lol) which opened fully yesterday:

I love daffodils! The yellow colour always feels so happy and hopeful to me. So I thought I'd share the joy here too.

It depends on your city's location on the earth (latitude and longitude). For example, the moon rose and set at 7:25 am and 5:31 pm in my city on January 31st, 2018. In your city the moon rose at 4:54 pm and set at 7:42 am on the very same day.

Here is a good website: https://www.timeanddate.com

Remember JPL is in California which is at a lower altitude than both our cities.

Aw, what a lovely thread! I don't know what threw me in such a good mood. I think it had to the fact that I got off my butt and took a long luxurious shower and took real good care of myself. Self-care is so, so important. and so many take it for granted.

I know its hard to look after yourself, SO HARD sometimes, but that little push can make a world of difference!

I'll also upload a photo of a card that I made for my brother's birthday. I was impressed with how well it came out as I'm not the greatest at drawing, but it's pretty f'ing good, if I do say so myself!

Well, idk if I'd call it art work really, it's a birthday card to me... The drawing was to upload to my cricut explore cutting machine (which is super cool btw!) for it to cut out the picture in red card, to stick on top of my gold base card.

I'll try to upload it now with my phone so you can see what I'm talking about, but it's more fiddly than on my laptop, so I won't do the holiday pictures until the weekend when I'm home.

Ok, so this is the drawing. Although it didn't photograph well because the lines aren't different densities like it appears. I copied it from an Iron Man picture I found on google:
The lovely little thread of happiness 2 :)

And this is the finished card after the image was cut out by my cricut explore:

My brother loves Iron Man and it's his 30th birthday so I wanted to make something special. Hopefully, he will like it! It took several days to do, over the space of a month.

Thank you No, it's really just red card glued on top of gold card.

Honestly, it was a bit of a headache at times due to spatial issues with the drawing (I'm not great at spatial problems, and I had to try to imagine what bits I wanted the machine to leave and which to cut out, so it took a few versions to get it right) and then multiple technical issues with the scanning and uploading.

My brother isn't massively appreciative of handmade cards, so it will likely be on his mantelpiece for a few days and then be put out for recycling with all of the others. But I enjoyed making it (mostly, technical issues aside), and my parents and other brother thought it is good too, and it is his 30th, so I thought I would.

Mostly I made it to realise the idea I had in my head, rather than because he will really appreciate it...so maybe it IS art! Lol
