I have a strange question. Does this happen to anyone but me and if so what is it called?

When I am talking to someone face to face, say my husband or my mother, as I sit there across from them, they seem to get smaller. Not shrink, but looks as if they are getting farther away, as if I am floating backwards yet I am not moving. This also happens while watching TV, all of the sudden the TV seems to be getting farther away from me. It's very odd and I have no idea what is causing it.

I am also seeing little gold floating things more and more. They look like shiny gold bubbles, very small but lots of them. Weird.

Hmmmm.. could be a few things. The shrinking back you explain I have experienced as a part of dissociation. But the gold bubbles COULD be a distortion of some kind, or it could be just floaties in your eyes, or it could be something else I have no idea what. Does this happen when you are stressed? or does it just happen various times without being reactionairy?

Rainbowzz the bubbles happen at randon times. Not stress related. The bubbles look like soap bbbles but with a gold tint to them. There is no soap around. They are not like the black floaty things most people see if they close their eyes in the sun. These are actually bubbles floating around. I don't know how else to discribe them. It's recent, maybe a few months old.

The shrinking back happens for no reason or stress as well. It goes either way.

Depersonalization. 'Lilliputian hallucinations' is the name for when objects are getting smaller (named after the little people in Gulliver's Travels).

And they aren't 'floaters' (the little bits of dust in your eyes)? Are they hallucinations that are distortions of floaters or something quite different?

It would be worth getting checked out to make sure you are neurologically okay (don't mean to scare you but brain tumours etc). Otherwise... Could be psychotic kinds of hallucinations, yeah.

If they aren't too disturbing then it isn't really a problem... But it would be worth ruling out a neurological problem.

No, it's not disturbing, just a weird thing that happens. I do not have any neurogical problems such as a tumor etc...I have had a CT scan of my brain, and seen a neurologist already.

"And they aren't 'floaters' (the little bits of dust in your eyes)? Are they hallucinations that are distortions of floaters or something quite different?"

Something quite different. They look nothing like floaters or a distoration thereof. They look like tiny shiny soap bubbles, and appear out of nowhere for no reason at all. I see floaters on the regular, and thery are nothing alike.

I guess I should just chalk it up to more hallucinations and stop wondering about it.

Thanks for your help, Alexandra! Not quite sure where to put this??
