That wouldn't be enough for me. I was on an AP and an SSRI (Lexapro) when I started having rapid bipolar cycles. Then they introduced a mood stabilizer, not an AP, to the mix. If you start cycling don't hesitate to call your doctor!

What's the difference between mood stabilizers and antipsychotic? They called the abilify a mood stabilizer at the hospital.

Im guessing one is to stabilize mood and another is to treat psychosis. Although my AD helps with some schizoaffective issues. My AP only helps with voices and sometimes delusions.

I just feel depressed.

That’s what a few days off my meds do to me. I either get depressed and start starving or hurting myself or I get paranoid and delusional.

Fcking great.

Latuda acts as an antipsychotic but can act as a mood stabilizer as well.

Im not taking that gapapentin anymore.

That shyt dont do shyt. I know so many people on it and they say the same thing. My friend told me the clinic doesn’t prescribe anything stronger than gabapentin. Sucks.

Looks like i have nothing for my anxiety anymore. Except cbd.

Inverse agonist of 5HT2A (Serotonin 2A) is like blocking that receptor. Risperidone does that and the antipsychotic I'm on (Paliperidone).

Abilify is just an antagonist but it partially agonizes D2 receptor to increase a little dopamine (Cause a little gambling why not).

LSD is an agonist of 5HT2A receptors so it does the opposite of an inverse agonist.

The "Irreversible antagonist" thing is cray though

Regulate the serotonin is what a mood stabilizer does. And many many other things that idk

I use gabapentin for neuroleptic pain in my right foot after I fell on black ice back on December 28 2016 and broke a bone in my foot. I don’t think it would work on anxiety with me. I really need to get off it it’s causing added problems to my mental health the way I see it.

I saw my trauma counsellor today and again she told me to move out of my apartment building. She’s been saying this for 2 months now maybe she can pay my rent then. If that’s her idea of getting better? It’s making me really agitated to hear this. there is too much noise around me it’s really getting on my nerves. Ugh.

AP's block dopamine, so they stop you from having mania, and since what comes up, must go down, so it also prevents you from having low lows. But traditionally, AP's are like a second line of defense, where a mood stabilizer like Lamictal, lithium, or Depakote is the first line of defense and they do a better job at stabilizing you.

A tell tale sign of bipolar is if you're tragically put on an SSRI and you start to cycle, the SSRI can trigger it. That's what happened with me, and I found out I was schizoaffective, put on a moodstabilizer, and then I was given another anti depressant--this time successful, not cycling.

Fast forward 3.5 years and I went off the anti depressant and the mood stabilizer, for over a year now, and im good just with the AP and benzo when needed. I have Seroquel to help me sleep, but one more week and the hypomania should be squashed by my AP (Geodon) increase.
Thanks for this!

I mean im glad im not on benzos. Ive learned to deal better with my anxiety off them. But its still hell a but. The zoloft does help a bit tho. My anxiety.

My clinic never weaned me off 4mg xanax a day. It was the worst withdrawal ive ever went through. I stopped eating for a week and my anxiety was so bad i thought i was gonna literally die. I couldnt get out of bed or eat. They wouldnt do anything about it. They said they couldnt.

newtus, that sounds awful. I was on 3kpins a day, but it was overdoing it, and I didn't like the half life so I just went with one Xanax a day. Turns out Restoril, another benzo that is best for sleeping, knocks a better punch. I like it a lot. Crazy I never heard of it before. I'm pleased by my pdoc. Last session went better than the last 3 before it.

I think she appreciated that I told her she was right regarding my hypomania, and that I was wrong.

It's just tricky to know if I have any sort of mania since I can't feel any of the emotions. Flat affect, numb, anhedonia, whatever it is. The only sign I have I guess is sleeplessness. I don't even have racing thoughts. :/
Thanks for this!

Damn... Glad I was never put on a benzo.

I guess if I do start to cycle I'll talk to my doctor.
