I'm having trouble with auditory hallucinations lately. The 400 mg of Seroquel was working fine then some new stressors popped up and the Seroquel wasn't working well. I have problems with suspiciousness. I am suspicious of my upstairs neighbor making noise at night and saying bad things about me. Every day lately I
debrief myself saying it isn't happening and to relax. I have a white noise machine,
wireless head phones and earplugs for nighttime. I have a call out to my doc to adjust my medication. Any ideas about reducing my suspicion?

It sounds like you’ve got the bases covered...it may just need to be a med change....it’s really hard to deal with this stuff rationally. Do you have someone you can reality check with or a microphone on a device to record the “sounds” and verify they aren’t there?

Basically just going over like why people have biological and social needs, like hunger (with mention of eating disorders), and sexual needs (including the Kinsey scale). Nothing magically groundbreaking yet Roll Call 170

So do “normal” people have motivation when they have these biological and social needs? I mean if I’m hungry I’ll find something to eat but there’s clearly something wrong with the social needs side and when it comes to more complex needs like education I’m not doing nearly so well as I used to...

I just love learning. Textbooks and technical books. I read a lot of non-fiction. For Dummies books are great.

There are theories that neurotransmitters play a big role of motivation so if you have problems with neurotransmitters, you’re probably going to have some problems with motivation even for basic biological needs.

Do you know if it’s dopamine or nmda/glutamine or something else? Maybe I should look into the literature....stuff like this I tend to blame on the med though because I used to study like the world would end if I didn’t.

Oh it’s dopamine...makes sense...I had an nmda problem but thanks to the meds I have a dopamine issue too.....

Probably why we all gain weight too.....apparently dopamine is the food reward system too but with APs the baseline is suppressed.....

Apparently there is extensive study of loss of motivation in Parkinson’s....they have the same issues we have until they get supplemented with L-dopa....and basically if you’re on any effective dose of AP a tremor is likely so you’re into Parkinson’s territory.

I would think it confuses albeit even harms the body when there’s an off and on amount of medicine.

Thing is with bipolar there’s always a variable amount....that’s why some days I wake up motivated and some days not.....I just wish I could take it if hallucinating and drop it if not. I believe the reason is AP withdrawal can induce psychosis.... I’m just thinking a really low level though like abilify five......

Sorry, Go. This sounds almost identical to where I was a few weeks ago. Trilafon at a low dose of just 2 mg tid has eradicated it. It seems to work for almost everyone around here.

People in a state of significant depression suffer the same issues. My pdoc says it is prefrontal cortex that can be fixed sometimes by tweaking the Abilify dose, since it has that unusual partial agonist thingy going on, or the Provigl/Nuvigil category of non-euphira inducing stimulants, or the Adderall family. I just upped my Abilify to a couple different levels from 10 to try to create this for myself and it has not worked.
