i am a 20 year old guy and i am in third year of my college and staying in hostel.i am having exams on day after tomorrow and i am masturbating four times a day or not at all for the past 20 days and i am not able to overcome this addiction.i am feeling empty and if i dont pass this exam, i cant be able to get placed in any companies visiting my college and i know that i am wasting my precious parents money yet i am not able to realise this as i was feeling empty and i dont fear(worry) anything.

If i have any fear, then atleast because of fear,i will study something but i dont fear anything.i am not eating well also and i cant focus well and all i am doing was just simply watching movies in my laptop and i worry for one thing(if i dont pass, my entire future will be in risk as it will reduce my will power more than anything) and i am here now without motivation.

i want to study but i think i am very lazy.i cant be able to self motivate me.

i have overcame this situation before in my previous semesters by praying to god and sleeping thinking about my prayers to god but this doesnt work now.

I cant speak about this to my parents also.

Hello, suman111, and welcome to Psych Central! I am wondering if you might be having some depression. Is there anybody at your school you can talk to? Of course, I guess you will be away from school for awhile, assuming you are taking final exams.

Are you not interested in what you are studying? Are you excited about your major? (I am assuming you are a college student.) Often once students decide what they want to do and are really are looking forward to it, then they feel more motivated.

Hang in here. Let's see what other folks say. Again, welcome!

I can't really help much, but I just want you to know that there's a career or future out there that's absolutely perfect for you. No-one else can do it. We're all different, after all.

So try doing stuff that you love. Find something to smile about. Find something you're proud of, and do your best to follow it through. If you love what you're doing, you'll be able to motivate yourself.

And, finally, remember that your feelings are always valid. It's okay to feel down and empty. It's okay to break down and cry. Just don't do it alone - tell your feelings to someone. Don't sit in your room every night all alone. Please. No-one should have to do that.
And, trust me, there will be someone out there who will listen to you. You are loved, you're not alone.
