I was taking some free classes at the local college. I really liked them a lot. But I don't have any income anymore so I haven't had the money to take the shuttle into town. I can't pay for gas for someone to drive me into town. (And please don't suggest carpooling, since I don't know anyone who will be able to do that the same hours I have to be there and I'm not gonna ride in with strangers.) Plus, I was getting sick all the time, and just exhausted even though I was only going in 2x a week and there was not really a lot of homework. So I'm not able to continue. I don't know how I'm gonna handle working.

I am so sorry to hear that it did not work out. It is frustrating when things like this happens but you will be in a better place at some point in the future to try again.

I know you mentioned these were free classes but if they were a graded class, call to make sure there is not a withdrawal or dropping process to let them know you will not be attending these. That way it will not affect your record for the future because it will if there is an official need to withdraw or to drop them as opposed to getting bad grades for not attending. Withdrawal or dropping will be better in the long run.

Wishing you all the best for your future endeavors. Hang in there and good luck! (((((shortandcute)))))

((((shortandcute)))) I agree with the idea of the on-line courses.

And please just take one step at a time. Because you are having problems now does not mean you won't be able to have a job in the future. Okay?

Your local college most likely has an online course, if not you could try a community college and since you don't have an income you could qualify for financial aid, fafsa pell grant. The school will probably have their own grants as well. Just remember to get it done as soon as possible as they have a deadline. And you can possibly do it all online. I was shocked how easy it was to sign up for the Fafsa, if I had known I would have started school community college after high school like I had planned. Sigh! So much time wasted in my youth.

It's sad to hear you won't be able to continue with your classes. Do check for the online courses. I'm sure that would be of great help.

hey shortandcute. I understand what you're going through, and the best I can offer is try again next time. I've been dropping out of classes for about 4 years now, and I always get further the next year, or only drop one class instead of all of them. The key is just keep going back. If money for transit is an issue their might be a fund your case manager, social worker, or pdoc might know of that gives money for transit so people can go to school or appointments.

Work and school are also much different. School I can handle, work I can not. But a few months ago that was the other way around! The expectations put on you in both places can be much different. And work gives you money... which actually really motivates someone!

Take your time. I'm taking 5 years to do a 2 year diploma, but I'm doing it and I'm getting good marks in the few coerces I'm in. And that's what counts. You have more time than you think.

also, if online courses don't work for you, don't take them. There is likely in class programs at somewhere that is free for low/no income households. My fiancé is learning commercial baking free, and his transit fare is covered by the government. You just have to know who to talk to.
