Oooh, that pie sounds good! I don't want to talk about dishes, though... I hope everyone else is more caught up than me!

Forgot to say, we've had the exterminator come out twice just to make sure we're done with the spiders. I wasn't home either time, but my mom said that the first time he came, he said we actually had spiders everywhere! I was .

The 2nd time we had him come out about 2 weeks later because it rained like 3 days after he first came out. I was not amused by the rain at all. Anyway, he said it was much better, & he didn't see any spiders at all.

We're going out of town at the end of the month, so we'll probably have him come by again before we leave.

Got some cleaning done in the garage yesterday!

Started out as clearing some shelving for the dog food, because my dog was tearing the bag open & helping herself.

But eventually we ended up moving/rearranging some boxes we haven't gone through yet, throwing out some old paint we'll never use, flattening some boxes, giving a huge box of books away, & putting our yard tools all in one spot. It made a huge difference space wise. AND it got the dog food away from my mischievous little beagle!
Thanks for this!

Music-junkie, I thought of you when I saw a headline about brown recluse spiders invading a house in MO.

I have a bug problem. My boyfriend smashed a bug in our cupboard. He thinks it is a cockroach. I think he is right. I am freaking out. They are not a common problem where I live and I did not think we were THAT dirty. I have see three roaches in my life. Why is there a roach in my house?

Not doing the dishes and being a slob is no longer an option.

I'm in a semi hoarding situation because I never unpacked when I moved in here. The problem is I have no furniture and places to unpack my stuff on. And I need a clothes chest. I'm miserable with my place like this but it all costs money I don't have. Plus I have to get my legs strong enough to stand again but my back is still really bad. Omg.

Do you live in a rural area? That happened to us a lot when we lived in a more rural area. Quite a bit, actually!

It could just be because it's trying to get away from pesticides. Sometimes when we spray our yard, we'll get a couple of days of ants & things trying to get into the house & away from the chemicals.

I would just sanitize your kitchen really well & not worry about it.

I live in a small city in Maine, 100kish people. I'm in a house in a working class/middle class neighborhood. .10 acre lots, small houses.

I cleaned the kitchen really well, and the cupboards, and put out bait traps -- but I am still freaked out. There's always water and food out for the cats, so even if I clean up everything else, they could still get there

A friend in Florida thinks it's funny I'm so upset and told me a horrible story about her car being infested to cheer me up. Didn't work!!! She told me that the eggs live in the paper bags that come from the grocery stores. Now I will always get plastic.

Angelique, I hope you can get some furniture soon and that your back gets better. Have you tried looking at the free section on Craigslist? Sometimes people are even willing to drop the stuff off.

Bluebird, congrats on cleaning your room I swept up all the downstairs floors today, for the second time this week. How do they get so dirty, I wonder????
Thanks for this!

Wow, thank you hvert! Hopefully I can clear some stuff out. I'm dying for a real home.
ETA: don't worry about the pet food with bugs, it won't bring them back once you get rid of them. I found bait traps work best for roaches.

Thank you! I hope the traps do the trick. And I hope it wasn't really a cockroach. I wish I had spent more time IDing before we flushed it.

It's possible to get rid of them so don't be freaked out. I've had them in a lot of apartments I've had and once you get rid of them they won't come back unless another tenant attracts them. Pet food won't do it.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your goals and progress. I have been lurking here for a bit and have found the posts to be very motivational.

I have started by keeping the kitchen clean (no dirty dishes in the sink or misc. stuff on the counters) and making the bed every day. The kitchen has been going well, getting dishes done daily, but making the bad has been another story. It is unmade as I type this.

The goal for tonight is to sort through all the random stuff that has gathered in the office. The stuff, including Christmas presents from last year, has taken over the room. It is a mess.

I wish you all luck with your cleaning goals!

That's good progress, Scott! I can't seem to get a handle on the mess here. I don't put dishes in the sink but the counter is full of clutter. My bed, a sheet keeps popping off a corner and I keep having to undo the bed, pull sheet down, replace stuff on bet, repeat repeat repeat. I can't seem to get anything done because of my back. And other physical problems.

I smiled at some of these things. I chuckled at some. I laughed at some.

Here's me thinking I'm the only one who does stuff like this.

After years with my depression, having a cluttered/messy house just makes me feel worse. I found a website that shows how to manage this in babysteps, and without guilt: just Google FlyLady - seriously. I hope this helps. Stella

I took a whole Skelaxin to see if it will help my back so I can do something today. I really hope I can. The plumber wants to come in and it's a disaster in here. I can't do enough obviously but every small bit helps my morale.

Wow! So much cleaning going on! I have been back to my old bad habits except for keeping up with the dishes. Maybe it is time to put the PC away and do something useful, like put away the laundry that's been sitting on the couch for three days.
Thanks for this!

No updates?

I've been doing laundry since yesterday. We had quite a backlog of it. It's amazing how much I've gotten done! & I'm making myself put it away, too. That's a huge problem with me. I'll leave it sitting around until it's basically dusty & has to be washed again. Dumb!

Aside from the past 2 days, I can't say that I've been doing a lot of cleaning. I did clean up my coupon binder & get it somewhat organized, but it still needs work. I also cleaned up my arm of the couch that I constantly clutter with mail & other paperwork. That's about it, though.

I haven't gotten anything done but thanks to another poster I saw some good organizers online at Staples. I want a few of those, it would take care of a lot of clutter.
