put a load of washing on, washed up breakfast dishes and hovered the living room. Still need to wipe down the coffee tables, fold clothes away and do some ironing. Feel like chores are never ending! really gets me irritated sometimes

My aim, if only a small one this afternoon/evening is to at least have a tidy of the bedroom and living room. I need to put stuff away after I have used them! it would make my life so much easier!

I so need to organize my bedroom. There's so much stuff. I'm good at cleaning and organizing other parts of the house, which aren't really mine. But my own room... it's such a mess and I hate it, but I can't throw/give any of my stuff away.
Tomorror I will start on my closet, which is now kind of a mess.

3 loads of whites are in the driers. I have not seen some of the items in a few years. I did a cold wash first, then a warm. They looked pretty clean. I will be folding for an hour!! I cant believe i am getting thru this mountain of wash.

So much cleaning! I need to do laundry, but I'm going to fall asleep before I put it in the dryer... but I have no clothes to wear to work tomorrow...

True Story: Doing the dishes yesterday, all of a sudden the hot water would not turn off. I wound up spending a few hours replacing parts of the faucet. I tried to convince my BF that I was traumatized by the incident (it really was disturbing, not being able to turn the water main off immediately because the valve was stuck). Anyway, it didn't work and I still have a lot of dishes to do.

That would scare me so much hvert! I hope it's on the way to being fixed. For my part, I did just a little cleaning in the bathroom today and got some garbage removed from my place. I'm so sad and depressed about my non progress and my bad back. I've got to work harder at it.

I am sorting sorting sorting. I wanna this weekend get this laundry to where all i gotta do is pick up a bag and go to the laundry room and throw it in then fold it and put it away, and i wanna get it all washed and put away by NEXT weekend. It is so boooooooring. And tiring. And boring. And mind-numbing. And boring. Who ate all the cookies???

Hi everyone,
Hope it's ok if I join you. I've been clutter clearing and organizing for what seems like years. I'm still not all done but getting closer. For me, slow and steady wins the race.
My goals for today are:
Wash sheets/ towels
Fold laundry
Finish drip line
Paint trim boards
Visit my horse

Thanks Stargazer! It's not quite noon and I'm nearly done with everything except taking a ride on my horse.

What works for me in the bathroom is keeping counter spray and windex under the sink with a roll of paper towels. I do cleaning items as quickly as I possibly can without getting too detailed about it. If it takes me more than 3 minutes to give the place a quick wipe - I'm taking too long and I don't want to do it. (That's not counting floors but I do those separately) Hope that helps.

Wow! I always have to avoid this thread when I am not getting anything done around the house because it makes me feel ashamed Angelique, I did get the sink fixed as much as it can be fixed given that the parts the hardware store gave me didn't quite fit.

I actually *did* get something huge done. I cleared out about half the basement, enough so that I could set up a work area for myself. I'm really excited about the amount of progress I made in just a few hours. I found stuff that had been there from before I moved in. I filled three huge trash bags and set them out today. A lot of stuff was just poorly organized - and so many empty and half full totes.

I am going to take Go Me's lead and make a to-do list for myself. I've started working 3 days a week and it's crazy how much it has messed with my schedule.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad the sink is OK hvert. I read this thread to feel like I'm getting things done vicariously lol. But I haven't gotten anything done. Just the same awful mess. I do little things like clean the bathroom but nothing to tackle the mountains of stuff.

That is a good idea. The reason my bathroom gets messy so fast is bc I smoke in there. So I spend a lot of time in there. I have a really good fan in there that just sucks up the smoke. I have a chair in there for my ashtray and ashes get all over sometimes. But the Windex and paper towels would work for getting them up. Thanks.

I still haven't done much. Cleaned out litter boxes, that's about all. And I've gotten better at cleaning up garbage. I need to get dishes done though. Usually every morning I just wash 4 plates for me and my son for the day. Wash some forks and spoons too. It hurts standing and doing dishes....need to vacuum the most I'd say.

Hvert - Good job on the basement. That sounds like a tremendous accomplishment! And well done on getting as far as you did on the sink. When it comes to home repairs, I've found that it normally takes me three trips to the hardware store before I can get whatever it is done.
Angelique and Stargazer, Sometimes I set a timer for ten minutes and tell myself that I can stop after ten minutes if I want to. Usually, in ten minutes the task is either done - or it actually starts feeling good that I am making progress and I often go longer. For me, having stuff pile up is EXHAUSTING. It saps my energy like nothing else. Maybe getting a stool to lean on while doing dishes would help. Or filling the sink with water and soaking them - and then putting them in the dishwasher soaked without actually washing them just to get them out of the sink… You can do it!! :-)
Thanks for this!

I'm just not motivated at all. Thanks though. I don't really have huge piles or anything. Need to do the dishes, vacuum and straighten up. My meds are keeping me unmotivated. But I don't want to mess with them. I'm still just stabilizing.

I got a lot done today but need to be more realistic on budgeting my time. After 6 pm I'm about out of steam for that day... Will see about getting better with scheduling.

I finally got around to really cleaning my room today, I let things go for a long time. I feel a lot better now, like if there's less clutter around me there's less clutter in my mind
