I have analysed myself for the past 4 years, I tackled the illness through the fear/anxiety and branched off from there. All our fears arise from our fear of death or our fear of pain associated with death. I did the analysis in my inner dialogue. My anxiety has reduced greatly but my illness is still there (but deactivated)

If you do have a severe illness analysis by a professional can be very useful. It may take a long time however.

Self help can work healthy diet, regular exercise, varied hobbies, good friendships, medication

Very true. I am now embracing the philosophy that this is all unreal and the only real thing is when we shed all the distractions in our lives and focus on the moment. Everything else is just a waste of time. It is liberating to know that NOTHING CAN HURT YOU unless your let it! When you are liberated there is nothing to hurt. The defenseless, suffering you is gone! I have been studying some Indian and Buddhist philosophies and it helps to center me. Of course I have my moments but when I sit in my garden and look at my flowers, it is all so laughable.

It is awesome that you have found this out and shared it with the rest of us. I've been obsessed with death ever since my brother-in-law committed suicide. You're right that if I can let that go I will be free from my fear. Thanks for this.

I see it sort of like a pyramid with different levels of skill as you go up, if you can't finish the current level, you can't make it to the next...keep on jogging!

That reminds me of my new favorite quote, "If all you can do is crawl, then crawl."
