Hi!
To be honest, I’ve grown to like my face and like my hair, even though I hated it before. I avoided mirrors all the time. However, my weight is playing a huge part in how i feel about myself. To add to my weight, I have knock knees, so I tend to walk weird and since I got here (college), two girls made fun of it by mimicking, and a few stare. I just hate it. I heard that stengthening my abductors could help. But I still hate the deformity. Anyways, I wanna lose weight and fix my knees. But to do that I have to diet and exercise. But I can’t stay motivated. I hate my body so much. Sigh. |

I have a problem with motivation as well. I sympathize with you. I’m sorry this happened to you...some people are just jerks. Sending big hugs.

How is your Depression these days. Do you see a trend between your levels of Depression and corresponding lack of motivation? What about daylight - are you located where the relationship between day and night fluctuates to the extremes.
These are certainly factors affecting my own motivation - even willingness - to do things. I am far more active during summer when the days are longer and my Depression at its least. Walking is my activity of choice (there is no freaking way you'll find me in a gym). Motivation? I make myself walk. Instead of doing groceries with my car once a week I do my groceries near daily and walk - even in the snow. |

It's very difficult to get motivated. I hear ya. Sometimes you just need to start off slow. Walk around the block every day. Take on less bite of you food when eating. Even small changes help push you in the right direction.
There's that old saying "a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step"

I find it hard to stay motivated too, so I sympathize as well. And yes, people can be jerks sometimes. That was not nice of them and very immature behavior for college students. Shaz's suggestions are good. Perhaps try to come up with a regimen that is reasonable for you that you know is achievable -- like exercise 2-3 times per week, pick the days and times and stick to it. A good way that I did this was to buy a calendar and mark the days I was meant to exercise, then cross them off when I did. You can try to cut out the more fattening foods but not starve yourself and reward yourself with a now and again treat. Dieting is hard, but you can do it in time, especially when coupled with exercise. Just do what you think is achievable, and you will be successful. Best wishes. ((((hugs))))

It's hard to sustain motivation over the long term. It seems to me that it's about making a goal supporting choice over and over again. I find thinking about it this way can be helpful, especially if I have been backsliding.

![]() Motivation is very important in everyone's lives, whenever we feel down or like facing failures we search for some pieces of advice or someone who has been gone through the same position we are in. To make sure that the bad time in our life is not permanent. I have read this one story about , who was so much emotionally and mentally bullied in her who live but now she is an honourable judge and now those people respect her. Whenever I feel low I just think to myself that my problem isn't anything in front of her struggle. |
