Good news - I tested negative (COVID ) today.
More good news - my friend did not get sick - it's been two weeks.

My native soil idea didn't work. The soil under my house is pretty junky, not wonderful soil which will nourish native plants. Worth a shot!

My steps:

Declutter living room.
Write/edit
chainsaw - prune tree in the way-back. Water and feed plants that I don't want to see die.
Test soil
send birthday card to grandson

That's enough for now. Kelly (dog) will be visiting for a couple of days and will help with fertilizing the soil. She'll also be making sure that I exercise. And I'll be giving rides to people and visiting my MIL so the next few days will be filled.
Okay, off to work I go. (Hi Ho, Hi Ho.)

Hi Steppers, D, you tried. Only know when you give it a chance. Happy you and your friend escaped COVID.

[√} DONE: Wed 3/9 3 - 4:30 Liberating Structures event based in DC.
[√] BEGUN practice with new Bridge Partner! We played on Tuesday.
[] Arrange 3rd of 4 sessions with my Tarot Reading Friend
[√} DONE with the book review. Sent, and payment is process.

Attended the local Jung Society's free Saturday cafe where we sit about and talk Jung stuff. Interesting. Doing this while I work through some personal deep shifts. Announced I likely won't continue after this is worked through with my Tarot buddy.

Soaked some walnuts in salted water then poured the dreg water down the toilet. Didn't guess the shelled nuts would retain the legendary walnut staining superpowers. Now I know and am spending the minutes waiting for a 2-factor confirmation to come through scrubbing away with gloves and professional toilet cleaner. I have my own idea why they're named toilets, because keeping them clean take a lot of toil.

The truth: The term “toilet” itself comes from the French “toilette”, which meant “dressing room”. This “toilette” in turn derived from the French “toile”, meaning “cloth”; specifically, referring to the cloth draped over someone's shoulders while their hair was being groomed.

I see I should clarity that I'm cleaning the bowl inside the toilette, or the toilet bowl.

Dealing with some new legal settlement issues that affected my dad, who died in 2000. This is 2022. The incident was in 1993. So much for swift justice and fairness.

One of my cherished goals, finding a bridge partner, seems to be coming to fulfillment. We're about the same level and both eager to improve, and gentle with each other. Not much more to want in a partner.

Otherwise, keeping myself calm and rested as I prep for the upcoming annual condo meeting and my assumption of a leadership place on the board.

I completed most of the items on the to-do list.

We have walnut trees up at the lake. I understand your stain problems and I feel your toil and pain.

Some friends of ours are getting married, and Tom and I are going to wetness their wedding. They'll get married at the courthouse. We mulled around the idea of me officiating at a second service (I do not want to be responsible for anything. The courthouse ceremony is the one that has to "take.") I decided that I don't want to do it. I don't want it to be a joke, and I can't imagine doing a ceremony in a meaningful way.

I'm editing and editing and editing. My novel has a lot fewer mistakes in it than do my previous ones. This is mainly due to my new computer which doesn't add and delete things and doesn't have a sticky "k." But it's also due to the fact that I'm a better writer now.

I need a title. I might call it "Earth Songs" but I'm not thrilled with that title.

Happy stepping.

I want to ease back on the liquids. What is even a good start? I think it’s to cut back on the water and tea to 160 ml a day and have a zero soda. The drinking has gone too far. My Mom even tells me to drink no more.

My room needs to be clean every day. This goes back to usual times. I really need a clean space again, so I think I made a breakthrough.

Hi Brego, happy you thought to drop in and share a goal. Did you mean 160 ml, which is about 2/3 of a cup, or 1.6 liters, which is closer to about 8 cups?

I'm now the new condo board prez, with 2 surprise partners to go forward. I had to stop over rehearsing possible idea and keep reminding myself I've been dealing with groups since pre-birth. I'd be ready enough if I remembers to breathe. I give myself scores, & I think I'd mark 91% for the effort.

Giving myself 3 days to freewheel then back into the work of it.

Better news is that I have several potential new clients. In the nego stages.

D, I help people with names and titles professionally, meaning I get paid for my time. Generate lots of choices, use a good online word finder, try restrictions (only 2 rhyming words), and keep a pen handy.

@Revu2, I actually meant to say 160 fl oz. I’m sorry I didn’t get it correct the first time.

Went to a wedding yesterday. Today I have nothing scheduled. Hopefully I won't waste all that good time.
Goals:

Get a frame for a photo I want to hang.
Edit
Go for a walk
Call two friends.
Two chores in the house
Two chores in the garden.
make appointment for taxes.

That may be a bit too ambitious. We'll see how many I get done.

Happy stepping.

These are the goals: To not act provocatively or aggressively, to ease on the caffeine, patience is a virtue, to make my makeup outdo the last I did, and to try to fix my acne.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi measly steppers, I'm back after a few days of dashing about. 'Cept today—spent 3 hours at a Korean spa (separate gender areas with showers, mild pool, whirl pool, cold pool, dry sauna and steam sauna. Upstairs, 4 warmed rooms and 1 chilled room plus chairs and pads for resting). Ah.

Brego, thanks for the correction. Though 160 oz is about 20 cups a day. Plenty of liquids.

D, delighted you got much done. Actually, days with little planned are a bit of a trap. Be wary.

Fuzzybear, WOOP is actually an app. I learned about it from the Coursera Happiness Course led by Prof. Santos at Yale University. When she first offered it she got the largest enrollment for any class in Yale's history! "The Science of Well-Being, the explosively popular online course from Coursera, is adapted Santos' 2018 Psychology and the Good Life ‚ which became Yale's most popular on-campus class in its 319-year history, eventually requiring the university to pull fellows from other schools to staff it." Source
Am I happier for taking the course? I guess. Happy I finished it. The best parts were her interviews with people in the field. One was with the developer of WOOP.

Oh good, looped back to WOOP, I'm out.

Good goals, Brego. I'm clapping for you.
R, you're right - by failing to plan . . . you're planning to fail. Corny, but good advice.
Hi, Fuzzy Bear, good wishes for your goals.

Me - Your goals of calm acceptance and not to act aggressively or proactively are something I aim for as well. They won't be a problem today, as I'm not going to be interacting with anyone for the rest of the day.

And my two steps for today are editing, laundry, and plant the vinca and blue-eyed grass. (three steps. )

Accomplished all my steps.

All of a sudden I'm busy. Two on-line classes, two in-person classes which I might have to postpone. Nanowrimo started, and I'm working on that goal - 50,000 words (but it's not all that hard because it's editing work that's already in good shape. Today, I'm getting a shield put in for my catalytic converter. In our neck of the woods stealing catalytic converters is a big business. Tomorrow, I have to get my husband's signature on the taxes and get the forms into H & R. Meanwhile, I have ignored my friends shamefully. Well, that's the to-do list. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to pick up the car I go.

Hi M-Steppers. About once a week now it occurs to me I haven't dropped by. Ms. D, delited you're busy. I'm getting out there much more as well.

Almost too hungry to get out. Partner found a mid-century black actors film festival at the Film Forum. Got excited, laid out a spread sheet, spread the word (lucky for me, only to one person), and noticed when I looked online for tickets at the NWFF that's is the NYFF. 2 letters apart in the ABCs, 2421 miles apart as the airlines fly.

Steps: lots of start up things because I have a new client and a tight schedule. Also, newly elected president of our condo board, so getting systems and such in place.

PLUS, enjoying playing bridge with my new partner. Big open ? mark on this year's goals, and boom, she appeared.

And a long walk planned today because it's 70° F. It's some type of euphoric drug being widely distributed from the sky. Free. Advice of everyone is to soak up as much as you can. R.

It sounds as if you have a lot going R. Good luck.

Me - I've been letting the writing slip because of the classes. I miss my characters. I should be able to get back to them in a couple of days - fingers crossed. Also, I'll start calling my friends and see if I can set up some dates to visit.

One other project - My church is having a plant sale at the end of April, and I have quite a few plants to donate; some are from me, and some are from my friend who moved into assisted living and couldn't take her plants with her, The problem - Anne's plants have bad spider mite. (Little critters that leave webs all over the plants.) To add to that, I have spider mite webs on my deck which is the only good place to keep the plants. As any good Christian would - I've been trying to kill the snot out of the critters. I think some of the plants are critter free, but a couple of really great arrangements of Anne's still have webs on them. I wipe them off; they grow back the next day. I've been using two organic products that are supposed to kill spider mites. And I wiped down the deck with ammonia.

Taxes done! Lots of smiling emojis. Are there really no emojis on this website?

Happy stepping to all.

I see a little box of emoji to the right of this entry space >>> so click on more and have at it.

Cheers for getting your taxes done. I just printed them out for my partner, so now have to scout out an envelope, labels, etc. We never file online.

I'm getting rolling with a new client and the fantasy is that after today's amazing struggle to arrange a 15 minute site visit I'll grasp how they grasp basic steps and I'll get better and getting my simple request across the first time.

Thrilled you like my sunjoke. r

The emojis show up on the "Reply" but not on the "Quick Reply." I knew they were there somewhere - I've used them before. So thanks.

I'm done with most of the big projects and chores (taxes, classes, etc.) and am now free to work on my novel. I cut my Nanowrimo goal from 50,000 words to 20,000 words, and that feels like a goal I can achieve. As usual, I'm hitting slow spots which need improvement, but I'm not sure how to improve them.

Happy stepping.

Aha, we found out the emoji quirk.

Today I'm dealing with duty-chores and back fill. Have property taxes to pay which a friend reminded me of yesterday. Added to my calendar alert system.

To delay getting to the chores I think I'll look up blogs for why we hate chores so much ... yup, they're out there. Some other people thoughts I more or less accept:
  1. Boring
  2. Repetitive
  3. Never ahead, always behind
  4. Feeling trapped by own personality
  5. Not my "real work"
  6. "That's not my job" (thanks Freddie Prinze, Sr ~ R.I.P.); that is too often picking up other people's work (Revu's most hated)
  7. There's no awards ceremony, grants, prizes, news coverage

Tick, tock, gotta rocket, R.

Dirty, stinky work.
My shoulder and arms hurt making the bed and carrying things.
Would rather be -------------
I'll just get it dirty, or messy, or stinky again.

Wierd Facebook message. A friend messaged me. She's a priest, and she said she just got a grant for $150,000 to be given away to retired, disabled, poverty stricken, etc. and she suggested that I could apply for some of it. The organization that the money came from appears legit, and I know the person. I said I really didn't need it.
she suggested trying out the link anyway. That's about when I decided this is a scam, and I'm sure my friend didn't send the message. I haven't seen her in about twenty years. I'm trying to find a way to get in touch with her - I don't have her number anymore. I don't think she's the one who sent the message. Anyway . . .
