So here is the thing - sounds like a lot of us are in pain and suffering right now. I'm happy that so many people are posting about what is going on right now it takes a lot of courage. I'm feeling the darkness and the black hole that wants to suck me down and have me disappear. That feeling of I'm never going to be enough, I'm a failure, it's too late to make anything of my life...

So, tonight I was really feeling it and rather than go home I decided for a while go out with some friends to walk dogs and have dinner. It was fun to laugh and hear about what was going on with them. For about 2 hours I was able to engage with others - it came back but those 2 hours were priceless.

As dark as it is what are other people doing to try to find about 10 seconds of calmness or hope?

I don't know if anyone will reply but honestly I need some suggestions beyond the sticky posts. I am leaving tomorrow for about 36 hours but I promise to thank anyone who has any suggestions...

Thanks for being here - you guys have helped me understand that I am not alone.

(((((doggybonz))))) good to see you posting

Sorry the darkness is calling to you - please stay safe

What a great idea to go out with friends and walk the dog - thats good self care - give yourself a pat on the back ok

Things i have doen to find relief..... hmmmm....

I tidyed my flat - that may sound strange - but its been a tip for so long and i feel better just having it look half way decent

I bought myself some fresh flowers - they always brighten the place up

I go to kudos and affirmations and answer threads there -

I go to the games section and play there

I bought a bear from a charity shop that looked like ti wanted to come home with me even though I am old enough to have had a dinosaur for a pet! lol

and I answered the thread of a friend

have a good time away and if you get into strife - try playing with the pets or writing it all down ok

take care P7

I've found calmness and hope through listening to music, prayer, singing, playing with my ratties (my pets, lol), sleeping, reading a good book ... and sometimes just sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. Or looking at pretty flowers.

36 hours, WOW - where ya going, whatcha doing??

Stay safe. You can also make a list of positive affirmations, I've found that if I stick with a couple that they eventually "stick".

Yeah, most of the time I'm okay. The remaining time I'm not
I generaly find meticulous but creative things like drawing and writing and even making some jewelry help a lot. Though lately I havn't been drawing a lot lately even though it helps the most because of other issues.

Thanks everyone for all the awesome suggestions. I hope that others are learning ways to feel good for at least 10 seconds as they read other people's posts. Hopefully in time I can move on to 13.5 seconds -

As far as the darkness and feelings of not being enough...it's there right now. I want to be "normal" and in the right place in my life. But, as with a lot of people I've had a lot of obstacles to hurdle over and it's scary. Sometimes it feels like I'm spinning off on my own and there is no where to land or path to follow. Realizing I have been living most of my life in "survival mode" is hard but...

Thanks - this site helps me not feel so alone.
