Greetings all,

I think I am over SI for quite a while, if not forever. I only do it now when I am being totally slack and feel guilty for not going to work. And that's hardly ever. But now I want to remove all evidence of cutting from my arms. I used razor blades and I did not treat my cuts immediately afterwards. What measures can I take to reduce the appearance of my scars? They are about 6 months old. I take Vitamin E at present. Is there anything else I can do?

It's good to hear that you've put SI behind you and are hopeful that that will continue into the future Scar Recovery. That's great. About the scar recovery thing, all I can suggest is buying those scar reduction paatches from pharmacies. They're quite expensive though, and I don't know how well they work. Cocoa butter oil is also supposed to work well in reducing the colour of scars - I don't know if that is true or not. I do know it's a moisturiser though. Vitamin E cream rubbed on to scars is meant to do a similar thing. It may not be possible to remove all evidence of the cuts being there - it depends on how bad they are. Some may fade to thin white lines and be barely noticeable - others may stay prominent.

Hope this answers your question.

I have bio-oil - it's a little bottle of oil and it cost me about £9 which i thouht was expensive but i've had it for about 6 months now and there's only a really tiny bit out of the bottle - i haven''t used it everyday but i used it quite alot. You can get some more information at www.bio-oil.info

I bought it as i got a burn on my arm from a tray just out of the oven and it stretched right across my arm it was like 8-10cm and now it's about 5cm and the colour is faded alot. It's pretty good.

I hope this helps some.

Well done for the positive attitude towards SI.

My clients at work used Mederma. I myself have never tried it, but it's intended for scar reduction. Also, cocoa butter lotion (if someone already mentioned either of those, I'm sorry for being redundant. I didn't read any of the replies Scar Recovery)

I have no idea what to use, but just wanted to comment and commend you on no longer SI'ing. I'm so proud of you! Not only that, but you want nothing to do with it either and wish to get rid of your scars...you're a real inspiration. Scar Recovery

I guess I've heard of Mederma, those scar patch things (but they are expensive) and maybe Neosporin? But I think the Neo. is supposed to be used when it's an actual cut, not a scar. Lemme know what ends up working the best for you.

There are creams and scar patch thingies, but I've also heard of this other thing. Some kind of like laser technique or something, for more serious scaring I think. I dunno, just stuff I've seen on TV, you could look it up though..

There are certain make ups and cover ups too, I've heard of. And a spray that seals it until you shower or something. Congrats on the achievement, good luck on the new stage of life you're entering. ^___^
