Ok yesterday I was talking to an old friend of mine and I ended up telling the person about my SI. And now (even though I know the person won't) I'm scared to death they will tell someone else and then it will get around. I feel so stupid for telling the person. What do I do now. I was talking about how I've been feeling and it just kind of came out. I know I shouldn't be scared but my mind just makes me constantly worry. I'm going crazy here. Ugh.

if you know the person won't tell then you need to just relax. It is very annoying and paranoid when you tell someone something and you are worried they are going to tell. However, if you are certain this person isn't going to say anything, then don't bring it back up to them. If you do they may think you are asking for them for help so avoid saying anything like "Don't tell anyone what I said" it is better to leave it alone. This is probably bothering you more than them. They are probably not even thinking about it any more. I hope this helps.

Don't worry about it, okay so that probably will add worry to it but, think of it this way, you vocalized it once, LET IT GO! Things will improve!! And if you are really worried try this, Don't let you mind wonder for 10 seconds and just tap on your right knee then left, and repeat for like 5 times. It does help, and then of course BREATH!! And if that doesn't work, read my signature again. and hopefully that one will help you. remember you're not alone on this, you have us!

Thank you. I know I'm just paranoid.

After you tell it leaves you feeling vulnerable. This is so normal. You can handle it, though.........

Telling is a positive step. You have nothing to be ashamed of. I can understand your fear. But there must have been something right in that moment that allowed you to share this. Please do not over worry about it - nothing you can do about that now...
Thanks for this!
