I was leaving the shelter office today to go to work and had a thought about being brave and going back in to tell my caseworker that I cut. I did it. I told him that I was "being brave" in telling him something so he asked if we should go in the back to his office. I told him that we don't need to, I could tell him visually. I lifted a portion of my pants leg to expose several scars. He wasn't shocked; I hinted to him before that something was up--I just hadn't said everything that I was doing like that cutting. I originally lied to my caseworker about how I got stitches last month. I told him the truth today. We only talked about five minutes because I had to go to work, but I did tell him.

Told my caseworker And welcome to your, hopefully, road to recovery. Do you plan on working on this, or did you just want someone to know?

Either way, good for you!

Inky that was so brave. It sounds like you are happy you told him. Hopefully it will be your first step towards recovery.

Way to go... The thing about self injury is - its an outward representation of the internal pain we feel.. so the fact that you let someone in on your "secret" says that you are feeling like you can 1) trust the person and 2) want to express yourself. Keep expressing yourself!!!
