I hate crowds of people and going to weddings. My husband and I have a wedding to go to tomorrow, it was my husband's friend from college. Being around a lot of people causes me to have a LOT of anxiety, which increases the intensity of my urges. I think it is because I feel different from others because I do cut and have mental health problems. I am afraid that they are going to somehow find out. Just thinking about having to go tomorrow and be around all of those people, especially people I don't know, makes me want to injure right now. Any advice/suggestions on how to survive this wedding tomorrow without injuring????

This stuck out to me.... because of one reason... I will bet that there is another person in the mix that has a mental health problem. Being afraid of someone finding out may not be a strong enough reason to stop, but not to do it in a crowd of people.

Feeling anxiety towards being in a big group for a wedding, does happen to many people out there. With your statement (and others) it's an all-or-nothing thinking, and as many of us know, it's not always correct.

Advice... one phrase Exercise, bring your thoughts to your body, breath, feel, relax. Being anxious I find, adds to the urges. Control the anxiety, control the urges. Be outside if you can, soak up some sun. Relax, watch a movie. Do something for you!!! Be on PC, do anything that will help. You can get through this. Many of us have been where you are right now.

Good luck and stay safe.

Thinking that others are going to really see who you are and find out all of your secrets does cause anxiety. I've been there. I eventually worked through this in therapy. Do you have a therapist? How did the wedding go for you?
