PLEASE HELP ME... I'm close to the edge with suicide in mind and I don't know what to do. I have never been this depressed before. I suspect that as well as having aspergers, I have bipolar too. My mum has bipolar which makes me having it very likely. I have already cut myself all over my arms 2 days ago. This usually helps take some stress away but it hasn't worked and I feel like ****. Does anyone know of any other coping strategies which might help?

((AL1EN)) - are you on any medication? Do you have plans to get diagnosed to see if you actually do have bipolar?? At the top of this forum they have 'sticky posts' with helpful tips to avoid SI - some work some don't ...depends. Some find holding ice cubes over the sink helpful because it really hurts - get the same endorphins going. Self help tricks only help temporarily, so its important to address the root of the SI, which is why you need medical help. I'm not an expert nor do I have my own experience with SI, so please excuse me for not offering better advice.

If you feel in danger, please ask your mom for help or go to the nearest ER. Regarding suicidal feelings - professional help is necessary but one thing to remember is, this is NEVER an option. Its important to wait for these feelings to pass and get help. I'll leave you a good link and I pray these feelings will calm down:

I understand what you are feeling, I've been there. I used to cut myself almost every day, it was the only way that I felt alive. It calmed me down, made me feel better (temporarily). Eventually I was admitted to the hospital, and it helped. I still struggle, some days all I want to do is to cut, but I'm lucky enough to have the strength not to. Also, I too struggle with suicidal feelings, almost every day. I know how hard it is when you're suffering so terribly. My doctor suggested writing all my feelings in a journal when I needed to vent, and it actually does help a little. I hope that you can find some peace talking to the people on this site. I know it has helped me, just knowing that people here really, honestly understand. Please stay strong, and I hope you start to feel better soon

No i'm not currently on any medication but I used to be on Citalopram which I didn't find helpful at all. I have made plans to go to my doctor for advice about getting a diognosos. I'm pretty sure i've got bipolar because I get exactly the same symptoms as my mum. Since I posted this earlier I have had time to relax so I actually feel alot better now. I think I just need to find a better way of coping with it when the proverbial hits the fan and I get really bad. Thanks for the reply :-)
