Why can I not catch a break? Today has been awful

First, i had a meeting at school for my 9 year old because the school doesn't want to give her a 504, then therapy - yuck, then dbt and there was some major conflict, then my car had major radiator issues and is gonna be $600 to fix, then my husband heard something my sister was telling me on the phone, they both got pissy and yelled at me.

I'm so done! I want to cut. I quit caring anymore

Life is definitely hard sometimes. What I have learned through my many hospitalizations and therapy sessions...is that it isn't so much WHAT happens in my life, but HOW I react to it. It has been a slow and often painful change for me, but working on not allowing myself to react to external events through negative coping mechanisms (ie, cutting) has improved my life tremendously.

You are taking the right steps by seeing a therapist and going through DBT. I hope you find, over time, that it is beneficial for you.

I've been in therapy 5 years, this is my second time of dbt (too much memory loss from ect to remember the first time).

I've had so much chaos and problems in the last couple of months, I can't handle it.
I know I'm not reacting well to external events, but all of the stuff going on has a major impact on my life and what goes on.
I just want to disappear

Yes the events of life affect us, but it is how we handle them. Life's hard, but even harder with challenges that we have. Remember it's one step at a time... and things work out for us, in the best way possible.

I don't really believe that. I have seen far too many people have far too many issues to believe that things work out the best way for us.

Things are not working out for me. I keep falling farther and farther behind on everything.

Yeah, I know that some of it is in how I cope and in how I perceive things, but that knowledge isn't helping me right now, when things are feeling so overwhelming
