ok, well first I want you take a big breath and just try to relax a little bit.

I want to ask you a couple things.

How long have they been bleeding?

Where are the cuts?

You can pm me if you dont want to say right out..

Hallie, if you can't get it to stop bleeding, you need to get help. Is there anyone there who can help you? Please go to the ER if that's what you need to do. Hold pressure on the wound until it stops bleeding or you're getting it treated.

Once that is under control I hope you will come back and talk about what's going on in your life right now that you're having to deal with and trying to cope by dissociating and cutting. Okay?

Please let us know how you're doing.

very good advice rap.

I also found this, taken from a help site:

If a cut won't stop bleeding, first try pressing cloths or paper towels (maxipads and Depends make good bandages, too) directly on top of the wound. On top of that, place a large object (like a balled-up sock), and wrap the entire thing tightly in an Ace bandage. Keep the wound above the level of your heart and check it in ten minutes;if it is still bleeding you need to go to the E.R.

please be safe.

Hallie if they are still bleeding I really really think you should at least check in with the E.R.

You don't even have to tell them what happened if you are scared to. I just want to make sure you are ok..

Let me know ok whats wrong with me?

Halliebeth, you could maybe give it five more minutes if it's only been five, and then I think you should go to the ER to be safe. If it's still bleeding this long, it's a problem whether it's deep or not.

Halliebeth, I hope you are doing ok! Like the others said if it is still bleeding, and you have held pressure on it, you should be seen in the ER. I don't know if you are on any meds but some do have anticoagulant.....blood thinning....effects! When in doubt check it out!
Please keep us posted!!!

Wellbutrin can cause your blood to thin hon. Please be extra careful.

Super glue works great for me. I first hold a very cold wash cloth over it then I take a piece of scotch tape and put it on one side of the cut (one end free so I can pull it tight to the other side) then I put a drop of super glue on the using the tape I pull the sides together. There will still be a bit of blood. dont worry about ti pit a bandage over it and wait 5 minute. then take the bandage off and the tape dab cut with cold wash cloth and repeat and there should be no more blood. If it doesnt stop bleeding by the third glueing its time for the ER. because you have cut down into the fat layer which has arteries.

Dissociating is when you feel distant and out there. It's any time that you're more someplace else than aware of what is going on around you, like when you're really intent in thought or even watching a movie or something. When we are dissociating all the time and can't control it, then it can get to be a problem. One of the reasons some people SI is when that unreal feeling (which is dissociation, and we use it as a tool to avoid something that's hard to deal with) gets too uncomfortable. That's what is happening if you SI and don't feel it, too. SI temporarily can pull you out of a dissociative state, but there are better and more effective ways like grounding or doing something to feel more in contact with your surroundings - making a conscious effort to feel something. Like the temperature of the air, and the pressure of the chair you are sitting on, etc. Or getting a drink of cold water and paying attention to how it feels going down, or wrapping up tightly in a blanket.

You're welcome. I guess I'm tuned in to that because I dissociate a lot too, so I also experience that.

Be Safe,
