Who do you talk to about cutting yourself if you can't tell your friends, don't want to tell your therapist, your family does not know, and the online crisis chat is closed?
Is it wanting attention to want to talk about your feelings, or is it something else because the only person you'd rather tell is a stranger who will never contact you again or no one? ![]() |

Sometimes, I feel really guilty after I cut myself and I want to talk to someone. Sometimes, I feel scared that I'm falling into a pattern and I want to talk to someone. I've always considered "wanting attention" to be cutting yourself for the sole purpose of getting people to worry about you and console you. I also don't think that we should look down on people who self harm because of their reasoning behind it. It is a problem whether you are doing it out of a desperate cry for attention and it is a problem when you do it to relieve emotional pain.
I talk to my T or strangers online. I really think you should tell your T. How can s/he help you without knowing the full story? |

If you want to self harm then there are clearly strong feelings behind that. Wanting to talk about strong feelings isn't wrong - and probably a good reason why your therapist would be useful. Can you explain to them that you have an issue which you want to talk about but don't feel entirely comfortable doing so? Any therapist worth their salt would get the message and take the utmost care opening the lines of communication and broaching the subject thereafter. Good luck.
