Have you ever gone somewhere to cut.......... but didn't

I find myself more and more going to the mens rooms at work (where I typically cut) with razor and tape at the ready....... but I just don't.

It feels like it is doing less and less for me as far as relief. But the NEED is as strong. I think it will force me to do something a lot worse. I do not know.

I know how you feel and have been at that point myself. It soon before I made the decision to stop completely and sought help. It was a point for me where I still wanted to give in and had all of the urges but was able to fight them off at that last second. Sometimes I still gave in but most of the time at that last minute I was able to rationalise why I shouldn't give in.

It's great that you have been able to resist . I also definitely understand the worry about doing something worse to try and cope, and unfortunately it often does get worse before it gets better but if you rely on your other ways of coping and the supportive people around you it is possible.

It's hard to quit SH. I started during a manic episode and had a hard time giving it up. I forunately quit before the habit got too bad, but I still have days when i want to.

Take care of yourself.

I'm sorry you ended up giving in. It can be a tough fight, but I'm glad you were able to resist at times. I've done that too (gone ready to ship, then not ended up doing it). It's generally a good sign that you can take a break from it. Is there anything safer that you can substitute for it? I find doing graphic art at times like that helps stave it off for longer...
