right now its summer where i live, and ive been getting a lot more tan. but i have noticed that the scars on the tops of my arms(those werent that deep)are showing up very vividly. the scars on the inside of my arms and legs(which were very deep) are just getting worse. has this happened to any one? is there something i can do to make the scars seem not so noticeable?

Don't know from personal experience, but I've heard that happens. I think if you try to treat them with some sort of scar reducer, and wear sunscreen to protect the skin from more 'rays' that it will help.

Sunscreen gets my vote too. That was what the doctor told me to do when I got stitches recently. Apparently the sun increases scarring. Keeping them moist wouldn't hurt either.

Hi damajdancer,

The scars on my arm show up in the summer as well. I too have surface type cuts that I thought would never leave scars and in the summer when my skin darkens...there they are. Vitamin E oil has seemed to help me. Hasn’t eliminated them but it seems to make the skin look softer and more even toned. And water intake helps any type of skin rejuvenation keeping it more supple. I’m not much of a shorts and tank top person anymore. When I was though, I sometimes used make up or tanner on the surface scarring to help eliminate that insecurity.

Take care and be kind to yourself. ~ Bee

Good thing I have a cat to "blame" or "trimming shrubs"

It does make you feel like everyone nows...when probably the majority of people don't notice

I'm having the same problem. I have a few scars from a few months ago from a dog getting me that are really visible and I'm worried that when my parents come home from vacation that they will think I have started cutting again. I wish I knew what caused this. I'm also fair skinned but I've been using SPF 50; it has helped keep me from being burned but it hasn't stopped me from tanning and from darkening scars.

If you find anything that works good please pm me and let me know.
