Hi everyone...I don't know if it's OK that I'm here, but I thought I would try.

I used to hurt myself about two years ago. Typical...black eyes, cuts, etc. I had to stay at a hospital for awhile and was able to stop, but even two years later, I still sometimes want to do it so bad. Is that "normal"? I relapsed once and my doctor said I have a 70something% chance of doing it again. How do you like them odds?

Hope, welcome to the community here.

I have heard others say what you have - about stopping but wanting to. It takes a lot to break the cycle. we've started trying to keep an eye on our successes, because they are ours and important and really something special to claim.

Look forward to seeing you in the posts. Kiya

i went for over 10 years without ... and it wasn't that i forgot but it really wasn't as conscience as it is right now... the urges were not as strong and controlling if that makes sense... i did start again when my ptsd symptoms started up again... it seemed to get more distant as the years went on... if that helps...lyn

i wish i could tell you how to keep it from happening... it caught me way off gaurd... and i am back struggling with it again... i guess the best way to keep it from coming back is to deal with the issues that caused you to turn to it in the beginning... i know that is much easier said then done... but that is the direction i think i need to go right now... lyn

You must have found other coping mechanisms over the last two years. As situations that you may want to SI arise maybe you can think what other options you have and find one less harmful to yourself. If you can you may not want to worry about relapse. Concentrating on how to cope would be beneficial in those instances. Take care.
