I haven't been here in a while, it's acutally 9 months since I've last cut! I have a question and hopefully someone has an answer. I have some long wide scars down both of my forearms, some are still pink/purple, some have faded but are still quite noticeable. I have a 12 and 14 year old. I would like to find something for them to say to their friends if/when they ask about it. I try to hide it, but can't very well wear long sleeves all the time (like when it's 90 degrees!).
I'm looking for some explanation other than the whole truth, something to just say and blow it off. Also, I know there are some self injury web sites, but I can't think of the names. If you could help me out with them I'd be grateful.

Nice to see you again... missed your doggie picture. scars

Is there any way to cover them up with makeup or something? I don't know about finding another reason for explaining them away that has actually worked well, unfortunately.

Good job on 9 months! scars

Great on the nine months. I really can't tell you what to tell people. I think that is a very individual decision. I am sure you will come up with the best solution to you.

www.selfharm.org.uk

this is a site I have been to a few times, and have also used info on it for a friend who's daughter had begun with SI.

Just outa interest, do your chn know the truth about your scars? Although my girls are younger I just say that "I just hurt myself" and blow it off like it is nothing...

I have some very noticable scars on my lower arms but no-one has ever asked me about them (surprisingly enough). I have found wheatgerm oil to be the most effective treatment so far.
