I didn't though. My right ankle is always trouble. It's the one that I have broken (probably) a few times over the years, and it aches just a little almost all the time. It always wants attention, and it likes to have something tight around it. It's strange to have an attention-seeking ankle. Maybe I will knit something that can fit around the ankle tight, and see if it likes that. I'm working on a pair of socks, and made the ankle part on the right sock so that it pulls in more. That ankle is a magnet for a lot of negative feelings. It's like it resents that I never got it treated when it was broken.

Am I nuts?

My ankle wants me to fall down the stairs Yes, previously broken bones will ache...but usually once a bone heals, it's stronger than ever...has the same bone broken more than once in your foot???

Nope, not nuts. Even if it isn't actually the ankle crying for attention, that you can contain such feelings to a part of your body that way, well, means you can also free it once you address it. (But are you sure it isn't just the way broken ankles behave?) They have ankle supports that help (I have two myself. My ankle wants me to fall down the stairs) make sure it doesn't cut off circulation though. What color do you think your ankle prefers? My ankle wants me to fall down the stairs

Green, definitely. Or maybe pink or purple.

I don't know what specific bone was broken. I had a hairline fracture in that ankle when I was 18, and stepped off a curb wrong. Couldn't walk on it for a couple of days. I was a military dependent at the time, so the only way to get covered treatment was to go to the base hospital and wait all day. I went. Mom was irritated and said they wouldn't do anything anyway. Waited around all day and they took an xray and said it was probably a hairline fracture and that they don't treat that. So it wasn't worth it.

A couple of years ago I was jumping rope, and noticed I was too close to the edge of the sidewalk, but I didn't care. I came down wrong and that ankle snapped. It hurt a lot more than when I was 18. I dragged myself into the house and didn't move for a few hours (DH was out of town and the kids went to bed soon after). I couldn't get to a phone or to the kitchen for food or ice. When I could move, I got an ace bandage, and I limped around for about a month, but didn't see a doctor. I've learned that doctors are mostly useless, to me anyway, and that I'm not worth it.

I've fallen down stairs a few times since then, but it was never too bad for more than a few hours. Always the same ankle.

Now it's just a dull ache most of the time, that I'm not usually aware of, but that ankle always wants attention. Today it wanted me to fall on the stairs, but it wanted me to land on my butt. It was just after talking about my family of origin.

I wonder if the kids left the light on at the bottom of the stairs.

Will T think I'm nuts or attention-seeking if I tell her about my ankle wanting to fall down the stairs? Last time I fell down the stairs, she asked if it was on purpose. I said it was accidental, and she asked if it was accidentally on purpose. But when I said I didn't think so, she said sometimes things just happen.

(((((((((((((Rap))))))))))))))))

Definitely not nuts.

I get dull aches/pains from certain parts of my body that I don't treat the nicest.

Did the ankle heal properly? That might be something to consider (even if you don't like doctors.)

It could be the problem is your tendons and not your bones! Not that you need more to do, but strengthening exercises might help. Or, it could be that your tendon just never completely regained health, and doesn't keep tight when it needs to, but stays "stretched out." But you know I'm not a medical doctor.

You are certainly worth it! Buy a light stretchy ankle support and wear it for a few weeks and see if that helps (it will certainly give you support!)

I dunno rap, that makes me smile every time i read it "My ankle is seeking attention." Dunno if that makes you crazy tho. At this point I think we're all crazy. I've got to stop studying this subject!! I just read "Nobody's Child". Today the folded up tables in yoga "became" mattresses and I wanted to hug them and push myself between them, hiding in the darkness they provided.

Ankles wanting things.... necks having lumps in them that come and go, tables becomming mattresses.... as long as we all stick together , the end result doesn't matter, right? Dunno what t will say tho - to you or me!!

(((((((((((((((rap))))))))))))))) - oh yeah, and you can do ankle excercises - I had to "write" the alaphabet with my ankle (in the air) after such things.
