I haven't SI'd in over a year now, but my scars are really itchy today, does anybody get that? It's annoying 'cause keeps reminding me they're there ...

Maybe that reminder is good--letting you know that you don't need to go down that path again, you don't need to use your body as a cutting board because you'll have more of them. Maybe.

I've got surgery scars that do, on occasion, itch or tingle or sometimes even cause sharp pricking-type pains. It's mainly just nerves mis-firing, or your skin might be dry, or the air pressure is changing or there's a lot of static in the air - unless you see signs of infection, it's not something you really have to worry about.

After my knee surgery, my physical therapist tortured me every opportunity she had by massaging the scars to prevent them from adhering to the tissue under the skin & prevent them from developing keloids. It did pay off - I can barely see the little marks... I had pins inserted & removed from my leg as a kid when I broke it - and no one bothered with 'scar therapy', so those are deep & knotted & noticeable. Just get some good quality lotion & spend a few minutes every day massaging them. Your skin will thank you, and it's always healthy to be good to your own body.

Thanks selfy and perzephone, that was really useful
and yes cantstop (I did put your name/nickname then but I know you don't sign by it much so I thought I'd better check if you mind me using it??), it can be a good thing they itch/tingle, it does remind me I don't have to do it... but I also get depressed because I DID do it and I have proof of it and I'm ashamed.

i can understand tis. i slipped up quite recently. and i know that thescars i get from the cuts will be bad. and will possibly keloid. (thanks perzephone btw. i might try that)
its incredibly shameful. to me anyway. my friend saw them and he jsut looked at me and said ' its too much. please dont do it again.' people tell me thAT alot, but the look on his face said so much.
i feel incredibly stupid and as a result, im having trouble accepting myself right now.
but we gotta just tell ourselves it was a slip. we did it then, all wecn do now is try notto do it again.
self is the key

I don't mind at all--I just write Marci so much at work when I sign things I just tend not to anywhere else. Plus, when I get typing really fast it comes out Maric or Mari--all of which I have answered to. I used to have a friend that called me March, a doctor I used to work for called me Margi cuz he had never heard of anyone named Marci so he insisted that Margi is what my parents must have meant!
