Glad to see some of these dealt with. My brother-in-law thought he had to walk 10, 000 steps a day, to the point where he was obsessive.
The myth of 10K steps originated in Japan many decades ago, I was told at a longevity seminar. I think the words 10 thousand steps in Japanese rhymed with the name of the pedometer manufacturer that promoted this notion. No facts behind it.

At the longevity seminar (conducted by PhD scientists), were told that 5500 steps would be enough to reap longevity benefits. So, a figure that is a little different than what is mentioned in this article.

Here’s how your voice changes as you age

My vocal cords are showing signs of aging. Interesting article.

Ugh, my voice is now cracking when I sing lower notes after laringits & bronchitis a year ago. Lol....I always thought voices lowered with age but now I can only get out soprano range

I don’t if my voice changed because, alas, I get little opportunity to even talk to anyone. And when I do for a length of time I need a bit of water. It’s bad enough that my skin sags and I have deep bags under my eyes apparently age related. I’m 62 not 92. They make me look older and ill even. Eye serums, chilled spoons pressed on them, hemorrhoidal cream (this works on temporary bags, such as those from poor sleep), nothing works.

I like to think of wrinkles, sags and other wonders of maturity as a tapestry that life makes out of us.

All these young folks with smooth, unblemished skin envy us!

Okay, now seriously, I was at a college open house with my daughter. And a young woman with blue hair was in the buffet line with us, so I mentioned to her that I had blue hair a few months ago because of a promise I made with my daughter that if she got an A in math, I'd dye my hair green. But hair dye isn't made for folks with white hair -- it assumes that the bleach will leave the hair yellow -- so the color is mostly blue. Anyway, she says that she wished she could find a way to get her hair white (like mine).

Is your hair white like mine? Imagine what a miracle that is! You can't pay to get that done!

Alas my hair will probably never be white or silver. Mum was still dark at almost 95, and my sisters hair is still Sandy at 77 so no matter how old I get I will only have the white threads that replaced the reds, the rest of my hair will probably be brown. I also look 15 years younger than my age. I always could fool the carnival guesser.

You must be talking to me? White streaks mostly behind my ears and sides/near my temples, top of my head. Also some gray but the back of my head is much darker. It’s way more pepper than salt so from the back, I look younger. Then I turn around and I look older. I got premature gray in my 20’s though it wasn’t too noticeable until my 30’s. Then I star coloring it due to vanity and not wanting to look old.

It got too costly and too much trouble. I let it grow. My hairdresser said that young women pay a lot to get what I have naturally. If they can wait 40 years they’d get it from nature. Anyway my hairdresser said they couldn’t recreate my colors. People compliment me yet I hate it and think I look old. The bags don’t help.

I don’t know why anyone would want it, yet I think it looks great on some women. Not me. As for looking younger I had this advantage for years but not now. Looking 14 when I was 21 was an insult, but I didn’t mind getting charged the kid’s fee for the swimming pool…19 but looked 16. Now I don’t know. Some people say I look younger than 62 but others asked me if I went to WOODSTOCK! Anyway I don’t like my color scheme on my hair but I can’t afford to dye it now.

The interest in white hair is because maybe there's a popular character in a manga series.

For me....not an interest in it....I like it because it is natural & I only like natural things. I don't have to be like anything.....just me.

At first i was thinking, no boomer knows no manga! Then i realized you meant, NON-boomer interest in dyed-to-be-white. I'll just see myself out now...

I do use hair color, but yes, they are finding out more and more that chemicals, eg toxins, even minute particles of plastics that end up in so many things like drinking water, can cause problems, especially long term.

My grandmother was allergic to hair die & nail polish & that was way back in the 1960's after she had used those things for a long time. She also ended up with alzheimers. Who knows what all went into causing that. I have so many allergies to things I don't even bother using anything. Lol....when I was in college a friend had a make-up party. The eye makup made my eyes swell shut. I wouldn't be a good sales person for that makeup.

Yeah ive become sensitized to home hair dye, i get red faced.

My dad used to rail against such things, even contact lenses, back in the 60s. This was before it became the norm. I think he took his cue from cigarettes being called out and extrapolated it to everything. He wasnt wrong!

They started talking about the dangers of long term use of hair dye back when I was still coloring it. And my mom berated me for it in spite of doing it herself. Pot calling the kettle black. Anyway would I do it now if I could afford it, knowing what I know? I guess not but still don’t like my hair.

I used to use "Just For Men" hair color about every month. But when my hair started to thin, I realized it would be better to let it go white because that would make me seem less bald.

And besides, I'm a lazy cheapskate.

I tried dying my hair twice. I didn't like the strong chemicals. And i don't care about the wash-in hair dye. I am a short lady who needs to look older!

I USED to have dark hair. I’ll trade you. I’ll never understand why anyone want this color. Because of it even certain colors of clothing don’t look good on me. And where are MY hugs on my last two posts? I wish we could hug ourselves on here.

I’ve been branching out to brighter colors. Mostly tie-dye though. I did buy a bright turquoise shirt with lacy sleeves and a hot pink number. They do get more compliments than all my black clothes! I think they brighten up my dark hair too.

I unfortunately don’t like any tea or coffee except chai, I drink just one cup in the morning I used to try and drink tea, but it never caught on. Coffee I never liked. I read that coffee drinkers have strong taste buds for bitter. Everybody I know drinks coffee except me. About half the people I know drink tea too. I don’t know anyone who drinks only tea. What does that say about me?

I use muellin tea when I have a cough. It actually breaks up the mucus. I get it at the bulk amish store a few miles from my farm. The owners wife is an MD & they are all into the natural & herbal cures . I drink a cup if coffee in the morning but I add hot cocoa & cinnamon & organic cream to it. In summer I put it over ice. Don't drink much else but ice water the rest of the time

I do like tea but consider it a cold weather drink. And it’s hot here most of the year. I could make iced but it’s more work. Each morning I have a cup of coffee, even if the weather is hot. I enjoy flavored coffees with whipped cream at times. Anyway I need that morning jolt especially if I don’t sleep well.

One cup is all I have. If I want a second it has to be before lunch or I’ll be up late, wired and awake. When younger caffeine didn’t affect me that much. I used to drink coffee as late as 9pm, with cake, as a teenager and still sleep like a log.
