I was thinking back about how I had a desk job in the 20's, working at a fancy high rise that had a deli in the lobby. I used to not only get food from the vending machines but I'd go get food from the deli. If they had executive meetings with leftover catered food, I'd be the first one there, helping myself. One time I got there when they were still setting it up for people to eat the leftovers!

Other times we'd have anniversary parties or something in my department, with stuff like pizza, Subway sandwiches, cookies, etc. I swear I'd wolf down so much food all day long, yet didn't gain an ounce. If I ate like that now, I'd be the Goodyear Blimp for sure! And it had nothing to do with being hungry! I just loved food so much and still do. Also, I didn't have to worry about my cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc.

Then I'd eat a big lunch at places like McDonald's, along with a big dinner at home with dessert afterwards.

Agree! Aging is hard enough as it is without metabolic problems. Losing weight before was probably easier as I was in my 40’s, which is when I started having metabolic issues. And hormonal changes. Sigh…. I really need to lose inches more than weight. And I mean inches around my gut so I can wear my favorite clothes again. The one pair of jeans that fit me are so worn out now.

I do take a multivitamin, Vitamin D3, Vitamin K, fish oil, Glucosine (whatever it's called for joint health), and have taken ginger for nausea.

I tried St. John's Wort years ago for depression and it didn't help.

What do you take? Does it help?

I also take Vitamin D and a multi vitamin. Years ago I used to take fish oil and that joint stuff. Neither seemed to do anything and now I try to eat fish more often. I once took Valerian root for sleep but it gave me nightmares. Our health issues

These Popular Things Increase Your Cancer Risk, Experts Warn

I'm trying to cut down on the junk food, and I don't drink, vape, or use tanning beds. And I'm trying to get up from my recliner more often. Watch me get done in by a runaway garbage truck or some sort of thing! (I'm sad when an old person gets killed in a wreck or falls or such.)

As a kid it was one of my favorite cereals! Nothing about dangers in those days but maybe it just wasn’t known then. If so I’m sure my parents wouldn’t have bought it. I loved all the sugary cereals: Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, Cocoa Puffs, Fruit Loops….I couldn’t eat that stuff now. Have to watch the blood sugar.

How to Get Energy in the Afternoon

The gum-chewing option sounds good.

I used to chew gum but years ago I developed a TMJ problem so had to stop. And since I got out of the habit, I haven't gone back to it. The flavor doesn't last long anyway.
