I've received phone calls from these people and just received a letter. I've never given, because I have been suspicious. It's a shame that not much money goes to the families. |

The latest scam here involves the utility company. They say you are entitled to a rebate and they need your banking information to send it to you. It’s not the utility company of course but a scammer after your banking info.

I've been getting scam COVID vaccine or test calls. The Caller ID shows something like "Vaccinateall58" but when I look it up, nobody else got a call from that number.
I bet it's spoofed, with each recipient getting a different number on their screen. I don't answer anything I don't recognize, and that includes emails or texts from unknown sources. I once got a text supposedly from the health department, wanting to know if I got one or two shots of COVID vaccine. Now we know the government doesn't text, email, or call people.  Also been getting dirty texts from random numbers or emails.  I'm sure it's actually some kind of scam, that if you click on a link or reply, it will install malware. I just delete them without even viewing them. Unfortunately I can see a preview and it's disgusting. Some people might open those messages but I never do. I can't block them since they come from different (and probably spoofed) numberfs.

I get texts from people I do not know saying my bill is paid and click on link to get a prize. I never click on links I get by text.
Anyone that texts me that I do not know well, is not given attention.

I heard on the news that Verizon customers, not necessarily seniors, got a text from their own number, saying their March bill is paid and to click on a link to get free service next month. It took them to a Russian TV site…..
I never reply to texts not in my contacts. I won’t even reply to ones supposedly from my own provider. I log into my account and look for that page or call them to ask if they sent a text. Years ago I got a text to change my password, so I called them. They said it was them and they understood my caution. I delete emails or texts from unknown senders, not even opening it. I shred junk mail I get as snail mail. Don’t answer the intercom unless expecting a delivery or visitor. Somebody’s probably trying to get in so they try everyone. Unless I recognize someone at my door as maintenance or a neighbor, I don’t even say “Who is it?” They have no business with me so go away. I’m naturally skeptical and more so now.  ——— Posted directly on site using iphone

I don’t trust anyone.
I got a text from some company saying I opted in to receiving texts from them which I did not. But I know not to even reply with STOP or CANCEL. This alerts them that it’s a “live” number a human responds to. They can then sell your number to other scammers.I’m getting a lot of scam or dirty texts. My provider screens out or silences scam or telemarketer calls but the texts get through. ——— Posted directly on site using iphone
