Whats your opinion on the term "sexual template?" Why is there so little information on the internet about what that term means. MY therapist never fails to use it in every session with me and states what mine is all the time...how much credibility does a "sexual template" have to predict the future? comments appreciated! thanks.

I've never heard the term 'sexual template'..maybe it's just another term for 'sexuality'?

I've never heard of that term before. Does your T mean sexual identity??? Did you find out what your T meant by this since your posting?

idk---its probably--has a lot to do with identity--i breifly discussed it. like...if someone had a blueprint...theyd use it to build a building..well, i guess a template is that "layout" that you'd use to form or create your sexuality and i guess that can be formed at an early age, especially if u were abused. or by what you find desirable like your fantasys, fetishes, sexual positions, preferred foreplay. idk, really.

GEEEEZ!
I have an hour and thirty minute session next week---an hour of it is supposed to be spent on my own sexual issues, so something like what I just wrote may come up and if it does I'll be sure to offer some feedback... as of now though, I'm unsure of how you would make changes.

how can I get rid of the blue print? I don't feel comfortable having my blue print based on being SA as a young child.
Anyone with thougths on that?I have been asking myself the same question for a long time. it takes some hard work and a bit of luck, i think. as a child, if you are not able to discern abuse, the a child seems to interprete it as a learning experience. since it's a negative learning experience, it can be difficult to shake off since children seem to think in generalizations. you need to be patient with yourself and to sow some doubt into the things you learned as a child that seem to be irrefutable. gradually and hopefully, you can unlearn what you learned as a child and replace the old experiences with new, positive ones. i believe that some luck is involved because, when trying to make these changes (since sexuality involves another person), if things do not turn out for the better then your old learned beliefs may be reinforced. are you ready to let in some new, positive love / sexual experiences? |

Just a simple thing - maybe you should just ask your T exactly what is meant by the term? =) Otherwise I agree with the other posters
