My ex from hell enumerated after the sex how many intercourses he had and with how many girls. During our last quarrel told me he has lots of sex, so he doesn't need me. I was so focused on the possible pregnancy that I haven't though about HIV or other diseases he could have gave me. Should I known earlier he's such a skanky ***** sleeping around! Cheating on me! I could die because of him- and not in a romantic sense. I know where I can get a free HIV test but how fast after the intercourse can I take it? I'm terrified, I was anxious about the pregnancy but it's so much better than HIV! I know I'm stupid that I haven't asked him if he's clean. We used protection but he made a stupid mistake when I wasn't looking- and that can cost me life!

To find out how soon the HIV virus might show up in your blood so that you can be tested can be found out by calling the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National AIDS Hotline. They can answer any questions you might have about HIV and AIDS and direct you to a nearby test site. They are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

In case you are outside of the U.S., here is some info. I am sorry to learn that you dated such a mean and irresponsible person. Please be more selective in the future.
Most people develop detectable antibodies approximately 30 days after infection, although some seroconvert later. The vast majority of people (97%) have detectable antibodies by three months after HIV infection; a six-month window is extremely rare with modern antibody testing. During the window period, an infected person can transmit HIV to others although their HIV infection may not be detectable with an antibody test. Antiretroviral therapy during the window period can delay the formation of antibodies and extend the window period beyond 12 months. |

Can you get tested for other STI's from the place you can get the free HIV test from? Definitely get that done too. I guess I can't add any more than unhappyguy's post, just good luck!

It seems to be much easier and faster to just kill myself right now. HIV's uncureable, I'll die anyway. I told my mother about the HIV test- via e-mail, so maybe she will kill me. I wanna die. I thought I could start a new life after years of sexual abuse- a guy turned out to be a selfish idiot, possibly got me pregnant and seriously ill. Men just cannot be trusted, huh? Omfg, don't I deserve some ****ing luck?

hey, bathony - i have a friend who is HIV+ and he is on meds and doing fine. the virus count in his body is so low that it is undetectable.
there is NO need to jump to conclusions. after all, YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED YET. and, you are taking responsibility for HIS actions. i suggest that you chill out for a few weeks and, in the meantime, get some counseling and tested for other STDs and pregnancy. you have plenty of good years and life ahead of you! please do not jump to conclusions. |

I am sorry that this happened to you and that you are really apprehensive. You deserve better and I hope that you will value yourself, inspite of the sleezbag that you had sex with. While it may seem like the end of the world for you at the moment it isn't. You are still a valuable human being who is to be treasured.
It is important that you get tested for STD's and HIV as soon as possible. You cannot deal with things until you know what is going on. While HIV and STD's are both contagious it is not a forgone conclusion that you have either Meanwhile we are here to support you |

I would get tested as soon as possible, he could have infected you some time ago, then I would get tested every other month or so for the next 6 months.

Get tested to know for sure but I also wouldn't rule out the possibility that he was just messing with your mind because you had been fighting. By letting yourself get all twisted by this without knowing for sure, you give him the satisfaction of throwing the last punch.
