I don't know this for sure or anything, because I'm a totally straight dude.

But still, I like being feminine, you might even say I'm borderline transvestite. I wish I can wear skirts, dresses, and everything girly....but haven't had the guts to cross dress- not even for Halloween.

I question whether the day by day would be more fun and inspiring if I can dress up.

Any feedback? I'm depressed, but I'm wondering if this would make any difference in my confidence, and feeling like myself. Maybe it's not worth thinking about because it's never going to happen, and it's not serious enough that I'd get a sex change or anything. Sometimes I just wish I spent my teen years as a girl, I guess.

In this day and age, I would look for some meetups for closeted crossdressers to come out just a bit in a non-threatening environment. I cannot believe that there are no such meetups, unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

On a purely theoretical note, yes, there is an imbalance between the genders in how playful and elaborate you can get with clothes and makeup, and indeed girls have a much wider array of options. It is an idiosyncrasy of our time - e.g. the men in the court of the French king Louis XIV spent a lot of time on their appearance, and, reportedly, modern French males outspend females on perfume. Maybe you could read books from that period to see that men still found enough worries to be unhappy, despite the flirty outfits.

Gender identity is on a sliding scale, there is nothing strange about how you feel. I'm straight but I love being who I am and dressing how I like! I'm heavily inspired by the visual kei style of dress, where the gender lines blur almost completely. I'm sorry to offer a biased (predisposition) view on this, and not anything mainstream... but I suppose it's just that I wish I would have had someone to speak to me about this earlier! I would really like to talk to you more about this subject if you are interested, since there is so much I have learned about gender identity that I think might help you. (No pressure) Either way, I hope that you can find what you need to make you happy. ^-^

I feel that way too, if only because people would treat me and see me the way and I want to be seen, but i deal with the cards I'm dealt with, i'm a male, and I don't really want to 'change' anything, I just want to look girly and left free to feel submissive like I really do.

I'd say go for it. Maybe try wearing feminine things in your own home to see how it feels to you.
