I would think your body is needing that release - so that is why it is happening - does it bother you - is it more than the eyes stinging?

We cry in our sleep too. For me, it is usually one of my alters and they just need the privacy I think. So they use the sleep time to wake up and think about things and cry a bit if needed.

apart from my eyes stinging, it does bother me in a way. the dreams that trigger it make me feel sad, and affect how i feel for the rest of the day. i did it last night, and i've been feeling vulnerable and irritable ever since i woke up.

Do you remember the dreams? I would look at what is making you sad and see if you can alter that so you don't have those kinds of dreams as often?

The last couple weeks I've been reading a couple really good but very depressing books before sleep and they have disturbed my sleep and now my days. I will probably look for a different kind of book today, make sure I don't get a third upsetting one :-)

i've also been reading a book at night, but it's not a fictional book or anything. it's a book about the 70's and 80's by the actor philip glenister (who i'm absolutely obsessed with) - yet the dream i had last night was completely unrelated. i wondered whether it signified what i felt about him, or how i feel about it myself?

Could be a combination; grief that you can't know/have Philip in your life and/or can't know his world like he did. Not being able to get close to yourself or to him would leave you out there "completely unrelated" and feel kind of depressing?
