Ive been describing my Harbour Bridge dream
in therapy and get more and more panicked each time.

My daughter accidentally took me on the Anzac Bridge
and I had a panic attack, paralysed with fear that
we would end up on the Harbour Bridge. If I could've I
would've got out of the car and walked to a train to go home.

Recently my work asked me to take a 98yr old over the Harbour
Bridge to the East of the city. I was so glad I could refuse
because my car is getting exhaust fumes inside. If I had
been forced to do it I would've resigned.

The panic is so bad I think my head will explode.

The dream is that the Harbour Bridge gets exploded
and its too far for me to swim to the other side.

Anyway had to say it out loud and voice it so to speak.
My lungs are hurting now...thinking about it....
(hugs) to everyone....especially those not sleeping
at the moment. I have asthma attacks every morning 2am
when my son used to go to work...(I miss you my son).

I talked again about the dream today with a psychologist
she said after discussion that maybe its about
ppl expecting things out of me that I feel are too much?
or something like that.Being swamped with overwhelming
things,I guess. ...I will keep trying to figure it out.

It sounds like you have some control issues.. Like crossing that bridge is a negative thought so you get lost in the dream.. The only thing I can suggest is to face your fears.. Have someone drive you over it..Or walk out on it a little at a time.. Just a few steps each time until you reach the middle..Good Luck!!!
Thanks for this!

I did an intensive anxiety course and they never
said just outright 'face your fears'
my anxiety history is very complicated
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is probably more than a
kilometre in length...I have crossed it on foot in the past
but this fear is tied up with fear of terrorism since
2001.I have been facing some of my aggorophobia issues

anyway thanks for your input....
kind thoughts for everyone out there
suffering with an anxiety disorder....

Maybe you should read positive "bridge" books :-) One of my favorite books in the world is The Bridge of San Luis Rey, by Thornton Wilder. You ever read that?

That's great that you're working on your fears. I saw a piece of a show on the telly last night that startled me; a woman has a fear of frogs and had a nice home and one night came home and there was a frog in her driveway and she froze. Fortunately a nice neighbor saw what was going on and got the frog out of the way but she still couldn't stand the situation so MOVED to a high rise in the city! She said she didn't want/have to deal with her fear, she was perfectly happy solving it that way (I was thinking about your fear of take aways, how they're not that healthy anyway :-)
