i was on here before about my anxiety.
i stopped taking all of the meds. i feel the same off them as i did on them.

but throughout everything i never sleep. they tried trazedone 50mg, 100mg and 200mg, seroquel 50mg, 100mg, 150mg, 200mg, 250mg, 300mg and hydroxyzine... i don't even remember how much. and now i take two ambien and i don't feel anything...from any of it. i was up for 4 days straight and had to go to the ER and they gave me a shot of ativan and a couple hours later i slept for 2 hours and was awake for 2 more days. i even tried melatonin and didn't feel anything..

i'm on allergy meds and i don't get tired. any OTC med doesn't make me tired.. not nyquil, tylenol PM, benadryl, etc. not even an IV of benadryl.

if i'm lucky enough to be able to fall asleep, i wake up every 30-45 minutes. sometimes i can crash really hard for an hour or two, but then i am done sleeping for the next day.

i don't really know what to do anymore.
it's making me sick.

Hello, veggy. All of the articles I have read state that chronic insomnia is caused by underlying problems. See: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/scrip...08&pf=3&page=1

Have you tried a sleep clinic?

Did the insomnia start before or after you quit all the other meds?

Also, I have a similar problem with insomnia. Prescriptions either don't work or cause side effects that are altogether unwelcome. I've found a combination of no caffeine within 6 hours of bedtime and a homeopathic OTC sleeping pill seems to help somewhat. I recommend researching ingredients before trying it though. Some dietary supplements can interact negatively with medicines and since they're not actually medicines themselves they don't list potential interactions on the label. The sellers (cashiers/sales reps/etc.) generally can't say anything that could be constituted as medical advice if they're not actually in the medical field. Pharmacists sometimes can help though.

I have similar issues with insomnia. Trazedone and OTC (including allergy meds) don't keep me down for long.

To fight it, my doctor prescribes 1200 mg of seroquel. Because that is a really high dose, your doctor would have to approve.

The HUGE side effect of seroquel is the increase in appetite and possible weight gain or even diabetes. My glucose is checked twice a year and so far I have gained weight but am not diabetic. But then again, I spend all my time sitting down and not exercising.

I recently started Klonopin for anxiety and that has a huge sedating effect. I would also talk to your doctor about other meds whose "off-label" use is sleep aid. Risperdal and Zyprexa Zydis worked for me although they can have the side effect of that infamous zombie feeling.

Zyprexa's tablet form caused restless legs for me which is really irritating. The Zydis form melts in your mouth and it acts quickly.

Zyprexa, seroquel, and a bunch of the other antipsychotics have the weight gain as a potential side effect, which is very unfortunate.

Another thing you might have already done is to eliminate all potential stimulants from your diet (eg, caffeine).
